This is my third class with her and I wish I could take more! She is an awesome professor and wants every single student to succeed. She structures each class a little differently based on feedback from her students so by the time you take her, her class may be different. I highly recommend her.

The class is mainly an open discussion on the topic of the death. The lectures don't have anything to do with what is on the exams, you have to read the book to do well on the exams. If you read the book you will easily get an A. The group project is very open ended and easy.

Comment:
Class involved minimal notes. We mostly talk about our lives in relation to the topic at hand. There is a big group project, but that's manageable. Read the book for exams. She's a nice lady, and the class is enjoyable. If you need structured organization, this class isn't for you. She likes people who participate.

This class was interesting-there wasn't any real lecture it was mostly just discussion and an occasional movie. She tells you what to know for the tests but can be very difficult if you try to ask her anything specific about the test. Same thing during class-if someone asks a question she doesn't want to answer she'll go out of her way to avoid it

Easy class but so pointless. Every class is just open discussion about whatever she wants. It can be awkward. She doesn't lecture, so you need to read your entire book because thats all that tests are over. Look at the random pictures too because somehow is a reasonable thing to question on a test.Read your book and go for the tests, you'll get an A

She is a great professor! She is very helpful, very kind, and very easy to get a long with. She cares about her students and is also very knowledgeable about what she teaches. One of the best professors I have had at Grand Valley.

Love Her! Required readings were long and boring but as long as you read them, your good to go. Take her she doesn't lecture just discusses issues with the class very interactive, rarely boring!

Easiest class ever. I didn't show up for a month, and still got a B+ on the test. Attendance is not mandatory, if you just read the book and show up on test days you'll be fine. she asks too much personal stuff, and my classmates were really annoying

Sociology people are nuts; prepare yourself if this is just for your theme. The class itself was interesting, but to me..the exams were weird. Sometimes reading mattered a lot, other exams didn't involve the readings at all. Also, I hope you have less annoying classmates than I did :)

You can get 95% on 2 of the 3 exams & get a B+ in her class. She is SO picky about her grading. Reading appears to not affect your grade on exams. Group projects have no clear expectations. The whole class is hard to do well on. When asked advice she had no way to help me. Talking to her is so frustrating it made me cry (I am not a crier).

This class was extremely boring! Class was based only on 4 exams that are no longer online because apparently people were cheating before. There's no need to go to class if you don't want because you have to read nearly every detail in the textbook in order to do well on exams, so going to lecture really doesn't help.

Her grading on exams is completely arbitrary, but most of the exams are relatively easy if you do the reading. If you disagree with her beliefs she'll often accuse you of being in denial. Not very open to other's opinions yet forces open discussion.

This class is made up of 4 multiple choice tests. The tests are pretty easy but you have to get an A on every test to get an A in the class. This class is extremely boring and you don't need to attend to do well on the tests. Just read the chapters of the textbook VERY thoroughly. Memorize charts/pictures.

This class, like most sociology courses, was a waste of time. However, taking it with Boudreaux is easy. Her tests are all online, but be careful of the first one because you need to do well in all of them to get an A. She considers 95 to be an A, so make sure you do well on all of her exams.

Great professor; she makes a lot of connections from the texts to real world situations, which is nice. Discussions are very interesting, and she seems to really enjoy teaching this class. The discussions might take some people a little out of their comfort zone, but that's half the fun of the class :)

Boudreaux is really friendly. Tests were all multiple choice (based entirely off of the book). It was overall a very EASY class. Having said that, it was a complete waste of my time. I basically learned how my classmates felt about stereotypes- sorry, I just don't care. Sorry to SOC majors, but really? How pointless can one subject be?

Comment:
She was an interesting teacher with a great sense of humor. People think she was not open to other peoples views but she encouraged us to talk in class to learn about what others thought. She brought out stereotypes and learned what we thought whether they were good or bad. Read the book though since most questions on the exams came from there!
