Comment:
I got my worst grade at SCU in this class. His lectures are confusing and move way too quickly. The tests do not reflect his practice exams so make sure when preparing you focus on tough homework problems more than anything. That said, Bekes is an awesome guy! Really smart, funny, and worldly. Just not an awesome teacher...

Although Bekes' lectures are dry, he teaches the essential concepts that he'll test you on. Daily homework, 2 midterms, and a final. His tests are straightforward and fair, and he'll give you the benefit of the doubt. He moves quickly, so go to his daily office hours to ask questions and go over homework problems.

Comment:
Horrible teacher. He tells us that if we know how to do the homework, we should be good for the exams. Its a TOTAL LIE. He intentionally twists the wording and the problems on the exam. A classmate told me that he did all of the problems on the textbook before the midterm, and understood them completely. He ended up scoring below 70%.

Funniest professors I have ever had. He makes me laugh almost every class, which makes the class very easy to keep engaged. The material may get boring sometimes, but the class doesn't. Tests are not very difficult but are very fair. He gives a set of problems to study before and everything he says that'll be on the exam shows up, no more no less.

Professor Bekes really wants his students to do well. He is very honest. He times his tests so that you know where you stand in the class before drop dates. He is very clear and gives a very detailed outline of what the text will look like. There is homework every class but its manageable.

One of the best professors I've had at this school. He lectures quickly but never too fast to handle, and it also means it's easier to pay attention. Lectures cover everything on the homework, and midterms are fair and no surprises. He is very clear when he lectures and is very helpful and accessible during office hours.

Comment:
Lectures are usually fairly easy to follow if you're trying. Homework for every class (usually 10-15 problems, depending on the length) Tests and quizzes are tough-- usually tests are only out of 20 points and quizzes are 6. Take your tests and quizzes to him to go over them-- he will look over his grading and might give some points back.

Lectures covered everything on the exam. Studying notes for exams helpful but homework often extensive and can get confusing. Would highly recommend Professor Bekes for any math course at SCU.

Great Professor who is absolutely hilarious. Super helpful during office hours and is extremely easy to talk to. His lectures are somewhat fast paced, but if you miss something go to office hours and he will give you a lot of help. I would highly recommend.

One of the funnier professors that I've had. His tests are usually straightforward and not too hard, the HW is usually harder. He let us out early a lot of times and we even barely had class once or twice. HW before every class. Overall he's a great guy and a good teacher, with the only downside being that his lectures can be really fast at times.

Bekes is a funny, nice, laid back man who lets class out early often. However, he teaches extremely fast and most of the quarter I felt like I had to teach myself the material. On the bright side, he is a very easy grader and gives lots of partial credit on tests. If you take this class, just be prepared to study a lot.

Speaks about 100 words a minutes so warm your hand up before class to make sure you get all the notes during class. extremely helpful during office hours if you can catch him there because he commutes about a hour away. let the class skip a day before thanksgiving break if that counts for anything. Tells you what to prepare for on tests beforehand.

Professor Bekes is a very laid back teacher and will usually let class out early. He understands the material very well, but has a hard time teaching the material and explaining it. If you take this course with Bekes I recommend getting help from the Drahmann center or make sure that you have some sort of previous knowledge of statistics.

He taught quickly and acted somewhat like we already knew everything and he was just reviewing, when in fact it was new material. However, in my section, there were many students who already knew what they were doing, which may have been the reason.

Very chill guy. Mediocre at teaching tho. If you are pretty good at math he isnt bad, but if its not your subject try for a better teacher. If you ask for points back on Exams he gives them out really easy. Just ask.

This man is my favorite teacher. He is really funny and seems to care about his students. His class can be a bit fast-paced, but he is always willing to go over homework questions and always tells you what to expect on tests. Highly recommended.

I've had this man for 4 classes: 13, 176, 122 and 123. To me he is not only a great professor, but a great advisor in life as well. Tests are tricky, but definitely nicer than other math professors. His lectures can be unclear, but you're in a math class: Read the book and figure it out. Take him!
