I had Stephenson for multiple classes, and he's one of my favorite professors. He's incredibly smart but doesn't look down on students for not understanding material. He's always happy to help and is a super genuine and friendly guy. Love the man. Highly recommend taking class with him.

Great math prof. He makes great use of Moodle, posting reviews, helpful supplemental problems, and responding quickly to forum posts/questions. Sometimes his lectures may seem confusing but he is always happy to meet with students outside of class to go over any content, review and explain missed test questions, and address any concerns.

Overall did a good job explaining tough concepts. He was always good at communicating through email or after class if you had questions. Exams, homework, and quizzes were reasonable in both toughness and grading.

Stephenson is a great math prof. He really knows his material and does a good job explaining things more than one way. He also makes good use of the powerpoints and is very good about posting helpful papers online. He doesn't believe in memorization and provides the theorems you need on tests. I definitely recommend taking this class from him.

Stephenson was very helpful and always willing to answer questions. A lot of class time was devoted to answering homework questions and he would explain things in different ways to make sure everyone understood the concepts.

Very difficult lectures to understand. Just gives students worksheets to figure out basically by themselves during class. Only really explains concepts when students ask questions during class, otherwise you are out of luck and have to figure it out by yourself. A lot of problem sets and challege problems to finish and exams are pretty difficult.

Grades papers quite hard for a math prof. Doesn't really teach. Kind of leaves discussions up to students and sits back and listens. Pretty boring class but super easy. Only a couple small papers.

Does not really know what he is teaching. Does not use examples. The practice problems and exams given are nothing like the quizes or exams given in class. He does not offer a lot of time for help, and does not reply to emails received.

I found his lectures to be extremely hard to follow, his examples were lacking, and he was unable to answer questions for those students who were not in love with mathematics.

I took him for my First Year Seminar on "The Future Isn't What It Used To Be". It was an ok class but I was a bit bored. He's a really nice guy it's just that talking about the future got old after awhile and discussions weren't hot enough, I was daydreaming most of the class period. Wasn't really his fault

Extremely boring. Lectures almost the entire class period so very little student interaction. Not helpful in answering questions-usually hasn't even looked at the assigned problems when students come to his office for assistance. Very monotone.

teaching out of his own book. can't explain things very clearly and can't go to the book for help since he is saying the exact same thing. not a good teacher.

Incredibly nice guy. Probably the most helpful prof I've had yet at Hope. His teaching is alright (sometimes he confuses himself), not great, but good enough. He genuinely wants his students to do well.

Nice guy, very willing to help. Class isn't super exciting, but it's math - what can ya do? Funny at times, in a geeky kind of way. Explained concepts clearly and went slowly enough to understand.

Hmmm... tough class cause it seemed like the professor was lost most of the time. He is Obsessive Compullsive about drawing graphs, he will draw and erase and draw about 6 times before he is satisfied, thats kinda fun to watch for.
