very very time-consuming. like extremely time-consuming. definitely had a good amount of mental breakdowns because of this class but that is just because I care about my grade and so I put in a lot of time and effort and energy into this class and it did pay off because I got an A but it was really stressful. So go in strong and leave strong

intense materials and also include difficult test that will take 3-4 hrs and its proctored. This class will consume a lot of your time even though it states it is only 4units class, which I think should be 5 or 6 units , so make this class your priority. Lots of homework, and reading. I was stressed a lot in this class. lab class is long.

Not an easy GE. I studied for weeks before each quiz/exam, & managed to range in the Bs on them. Doesn't let you use your notes on exams, which is frustrating since it is a non-bio major course. When I needed help, she did give me good feedback and was accessible. She offered extra credit too. She's not a bad prof, just makes the course too hard.

This is by far the hardest 100 level course I have ever taken at SDSU. It is extremely difficult to succeed in this class since everything is weighted equally. There are 6 tests and 6 quizzes in the course. Not only can you not go back to look at your answers, but she doesn't let you see what questions you got wrong. Avoid this class if you can!

Take notes on the module lectures and read through the textbook but you really need to go read through twice if you want to pass because of the way she words the quizzes/tests. PlayPosits or the MasteringHW suck because you lose points if you choose the wrong answer. Overall, the worst thing is that she doesn't let you review quiz/exam answers.

If human anatomy is the field you're going into, this is the prof to take. She has a consistent method of teaching that she stands by, and has amazing, depersonalized rapport with her students. She will even write you a professional letter of rec if you take the sequential anatomy lab internship class! I learned everything I know from this one. GL!

This class really is not as bad as people say it is. All I do is watch her lecture videos before a test and I get an A every time, and this is coming from someone who was never good at science. She does care about her students but she's not going to just hand out A's like everyone expects. It is intimidating at first but it is seriously not bad.

The exams are worded terribly, require a lockdown browser with camera. No notes allowed unlike other BIO100 classes. Questions are worded like she is trying to fail you. I am a ME major taking statics, differential equations, materials, and other difficult classes and this class is my lowest grade. That should tell you something.

Terrible class. Taking this 100 level as a GE and it is extremely hard. She words questions on quizzes/ exams in strange ways just to avoid cheating. All quizzes and exam are on lockdown browser and require a camera. Do not take as an "easy GE", you will be upset with how hard this class is.

Thus far, she has been extremely lazy. You can tell the class material hasn't been touched in years, and all of the due dates are incorrect for the quizzes and hw assignments. The schedule doesn't equate to what is set on the hw assignments.

DO NOT TAKE. Tons of work & tons of reading in a short amount of time. This prof records your face and keystrokes during exams && quizzes. Doesn't give study guides. If you miss part of a PlayPosit question you get a 0. Not to mention finding what's due & where to do it is SO CONFUSING. Worst 100 class I've ever almost taken.

I took Dr. Garver's class in Fall 19 and even though anatomy was such a difficult class, I enjoyed learning about it. Her lectures are long and you really have to pay attention to understand the lessons. She will have blanks on the notes she posts online, w/c is why you have to attend class & cuts off the last few mins of lecture in video. Goodluck

Took this class for Summer session. Very simple class, basically each week consisted of 5 lectures with clickers, quiz early in the week, and an exam on a sunday. As long as you take good notes and pay attention during lectures you'll do great. All questions come straight from lectures. Textbook not really needed.

Professor Garver's class is fine until there is an issue. If you have any issue in your personal life or even in the class she is completely unhelpful to the point where you feel upset for even asking in the first place. If you want a professor that actually cares about their students, find a different class section.

I loved Professor Garver's online The Human Body course. I took the course to fulfill my upper division science explorations. 6 quizzes, 6 exams, optional final, and easy homework! Exams and quizzes are simple if you take notes on her weekly powerpoints. I barely used the textbook. She responds quickly to emails and wants her students to succeed!

Comment:
Professor Garver is very knowledgeable about the subject, it is clear she is passionate about what she teaches. However, she lacks empathy, with this whole COVID situation she turned her back on her students; made class tons harder by increasing lecture time, homework load, and not being considerate of the difficult situation students were facing.

Professor Garver was an amazing professor, especially for an online biology class. She is always on top of things, whether its reminding you about exams and quizes via email, or responding to questions you may have. There are a lot of assignments, but its not unmanageable. Put the work in and you'll get that A.

Sandy was not understanding or kind about the COVID-19 situation at all. Students used to love her, but her true colors came out when she made students pay for online cameras and forced us to watch hours worth of lectures and do online zoom labs for hours even though our college experience got ruined. Hard class. Not kind teacher. Good luck folks.

during the pandemic, she was very rude to students asking for help managing the class by sending condescending emails, and essentially telling students they are not allowed to email her any longer. did not take into account any students situations, and added in extra assignments and lectures because she thinks we have all this free time. good luck.

Super test heavy. I do not recommend you take it with her ! Go take at a community college or with someone else.
