Comment:
His lectures are very discussion-based instead of being legitimate lectures, which wasn't the best for my learning style. There's a few in class essays and they're all ridiculously short (500 words max) with time limits. The class itself wasn't too hard, just painful to get through.

Best thing about Professor Lorcan is that you know exactly what he is looking for in essays as he outlines what you will be doing for midterms very clearly. As long as you pay attention in class, you should receive a good grade.

Professor Fox is a great lecturer and is clear about what he expects. All exams are based on things discussed in class, so as long as you're paying attention in class, you'll do well. He seems approachable and cares a lot about his students. Would recommend him to others.

Professor Fox was an amazing teacher who had a lot of great insights from a multitude of critical standpoints. He's a bit awkward sometimes, but the discussions were my favourite part of his class. He's genuinely caring as well and really does want to see you succeed. Highly recommend.

Professor Fox made a potentially boring subject very interesting and this class was one that I always looked forward to. His lectures may seem a bit unstructured, but if you take notes and listen carefully, you'll be fine. Would highly recommend taking his class!

A questionable professor. Lectures are poor as he goes on irrelevant tangents but attendance is necessary for participation. Many pointless lectures are on basic concepts of writing taught in high school, nothing on university level papers. Expect multiple unnecessary sexual comments every class - HIGHLY uncomfortable. I regret not dropping.

he is brilliant and kind. he makes lecture interesting and funny, but he can be pretty awkward which can make lectures momentarily painful. he tries to make the lecture material really accessible for everyone no matter their background.

he is kind and passionate and works to make the class/material for everyone. he tells good jokes and strives to make work relevant. he can be a bit of an awkward dude, which can make lectures momentarily painful. has a super soothing voice (beware of night/early morning classes if you have trouble staying awake). He is a very good prof, I recommend

He's a really fair marker and tries to make his class interesting. You don't get penalized for not participating which can't be said for a lot of other 112 classes. 10/10 would recommend if you want to breeze through first year English

Professsor Fox is one of the best English profs in the department, his classes all prepare you for the quizzes and the final, and he marks extremely fairly and actually gives good feedback. Super respectful of students and easy to talk to. An A in this class is super attainable if you read the works and come to class.

Good prof, kinda awkward guy which can make lectures painful at times, but mostly they're fine; he placed a heavy emphasis on the history of the texts, which depending on how much you like history could be a good thing or a bad thing; he's very approachable, nicer to talk to one on one than during lecture

I actually liked prof fox way more than I thought I was going to. He explains everything very well and gives good context. He made 18th century english interesting. TO DO WELL: participate. Read the readings and look up summaries and when he asks questions answer them - they are easy questions anyways. Take ENG 220 with him!! 1 final and 2 midterms

He teaches very concisely, and drops funny dry humor at the same time. He tells you exactly what he wants for essays and tests. There were only a few in class essays and one paper to complete. If you include everything he tells you to and write well, you can easily get an A. You have to buy a couple books, but they can also be found online.

Lorcan is the coolest. Go to his lectures, and he'll tell you exactly what you need to know to do well. The material for this course is pretty bland, but he does a good job of making sure the students understand his points. His marking isn't difficult per se, but you need to work hard to impress him. His dad jokes are a bonus. Would recommend.

Comment:
I wasnt a huge fan of this class - the lectures felt scattered, and I disliked how we spent weeks on some books and just a day or two on others. Also, on the in-class assignments, youre rewarded for regurgitating the points made in class rather than forming your own ideas. He's a pretty lenient grader though.
