Comment:
Dr. Chen is overall a good guy. He's older and has a slight accent, but it's easily understandable and he talks slow. You MUST do the homework to pass, as you are only graded on quizzes/exams and a couple assignments. He is very willing to help you if need be, in fact he likes when people come to office hours. He is a very picky grader, though.

Cannot express any information. He does not understand how a student could possibly not understand a subject. If you do the work wrong, but still get the right answer, it is still wrong because you did not do it HIS way. He'll go over about 2 homework problems and you'll be lucky if he does it correct. He gets lost in his own lectures.

He is a very easy going people and will definitely offer you help as long as you ask. He never shows signs of disrepect toward students. He has an accent, but he talks slow and nice, like his lecture, very detailed. The downside is that he raerly repeats the same content, so if you need review you do it yourself or outside of class with him.

Great Professor, but you need to work really hard to do well. His accent is very easy to get used to too. He can tell who works hard out of the people who don't and he keeps that in mind Be on his good side and if you're stuck on something see him in Office ours He is more than happy to help. Diligence is the Key

One of the most difficult classes I have ever taken. I did the homework constantly and when I got to tests and quizzes I still felt like I was lost. The only way to pass is if you go and have him help you or get help from a tutor.

Dr. Chen is a great professor. Go see him during his office hours with relevant questions and he will provide help. Make sure to do every assigned homework problem AND BEYOND! You need to go the extra mile in his class if you want to pass. See tutors, take good notes, and go to every lecture. It is possible to pass his class but it won't be easy.

The material covered in this class was the most challenging I've seen to date. Dr Chen was very helpful outside of class and clearly answered any questions I approached him with. A couple concepts were introduced unclearly in class but if you did the assigned homework, it wasn't hard to figure it out.

Comment:
I believe many of the reviews on Dr Chen are inaccurate because they are scewed by the difficulty of the class. I personally think he is a fair professor. He clearly breaks down each subject and offers plenty of examples to help students grasp the technique. He even breaks down steps to basic algebra. The tests were not overly challenging or tricky

His class is hard, but you will KNOW what you need to know. Especially recommended for engineering students. The accent can take a while to get used to, but he knows what he's doing. He means well and wants to see his students succeed, but if he tells you you're probably going to fail the course for whatever reason, either drop it or RUN to a tutor

Knowledgeable and helpful, but difficult to understand. His exams are extremely challenging and not lenient at all with them. Collects and grades homework and drops the worst grade. If you aren't strong in math, I highly recommend another professor.

The language barrier is challenging to get through at first, but it's possible. It can be hard paying attention since he does straight lectures, but it's beneficial to try. He knows what he's doing and you WILL know calc if you manage to pass. He helps best during his office hours, so JUMP at those. His test grading is utterly confusing, though.

Possibly the worst teacher i have so far.I understand that his test should be hard but his test are simply unfair. If you go to see him he is not very helpful. it seems he just really does not care at all about is students. If you can avoid him he will make you hate math

The professor is very knowledgeable in the subject and is able to answer any questions you have both in class and in his office hours. He is very enthusiastic about people coming to see him for help. His exams are of a moderately hard, but he gives hard weekly quizzes that add up to about 20% of your grade. You will know calculus when your done.

He's OK guy, but a pretty lousy teacher. Class is really boring, he doesn't keep students interest well. I'm minoring in math and he couldn't keep my attention! Midterm exams were pretty easy, but his final was ridiculously unfair. Avoid if you can, but at PSU MK, you probably have not other choice.
