I have all good things to say about this professor. She is one of the best I have ever had at Southeastern. If you're a psychology major she is SO helpful in anything you need. She zoomed with me several times when I needed her and she was very encouraging. Tests were straightforward.

This class was not easy but if you show up pay attention and take notes you can succeed. She is very thorough and explains slowly and is willing to answer questions. To someone not a fan of stats or math I recommend her along with active attendence

If the class is in person, she provides clear lectures and goes through everything step by step. I actually enjoyed class. However, when class was switched online 4 covid, she completely changed. Completely uncaring and inflexible. Regardless of platform, there is hw every class, usually 3-5 questions, but each question has like 5-10 subquestions.

She was great! She went way out of her way to help me. She made statistics fun and interesting, even from a distance. I learned so much! She is really nice, but you need to work hard. It's not an "easy" class.

Comment:
Her lectures are clear and easy to follow. But like 3 hw questions each period BUT they all have like 6 parts. She can be very inflexible and rude. When expressing any concern, we got a lack of empathy&even aggressiveness (during a pandemic) it was either her way or no way even when she was wrong. I enjoy the class until her true colors were shown

OUTSTANDING! Its a stats class, with a lot of math, but she goes step-by-step in her lectures. Every time I thought I had a question, the very next words she uttered answered anything I was doubting. She provides superb hand-outs with great definitions and her examples are all excellent. She works hard and cares. She made stats easy.

Lectures 10/10 Homework must be done to understand the material. Attendance is not mandatory but if you don't come, you wont understand the material. She is friendly and clearly explains materials.

LOVE Dr. Coats! You have to apply yourself and do your work, you should be fine. She tells you what she expects out of you on homework assignments AND the exams. She was more than willing to help and went into depth even through email. She cares about whether the information is understood. The material is just rough for some. I will take her again!

Horrible person altogether. Extremely rude and has nasty attitude. Not enthusiastic about helping students. Doesn't care to help anyone. Can't believe she's the department head because her attitude is really nasty and mean and nonchalant. Horrible is an understatement.

Comment:
Dr. Coats' lectures were highly detailed but given at a reasonable pace. She uses practical examples and is open to questions. The homework is well-designed - it forces you to think about the purpose of the formulas and the relationship between variables - and she grades it based on your logic. Fantastic teacher. Highly recommend.

Do not take her!!!! She's very unhelpful. She doesn't care about her students. She's also very rude. I took her class and all the information I learned for her class I got from another teacher. She also takes a while to put grades in towards the end of the semester. If you actually want to learn and enjoy the class I would not take her.

Comment:
Dr. Coats' Fall and Spring semester classes are probably worthwhile given her apparently extensive knowledge of the subject she teaches, but her online Summer course was a dreadful mess. Class material was not sufficiently condensed, and she is the only professor I have ever taken, ever, who does not allow backtracking on tests.

Great teacher! She went over the information clearly and helped simplify difficult concepts. Yes, she had a bit of an attitude, but it was worth dealing with to gain the knowledge she taught. Take her! There are lots of chances to earn that A! Just do your work!

Comment:
This isn't a usual lecture class. Lots of work/ writing on a research project. There is too much weight placed on paper which you don't hand in until the end. But she gave lots of feedback on sections of the paper we turn in through the semester. Nice teacher.
