Instead of tests, you have to write 4-6 page essays. Also his notes aren't through power point, you have to listen to his voice lectures and write down what he says and read his book because that it what his chapter quizzes are over. A lot of work, spent about 4 hours doing the video notes and reading before quizzes.

Took him for Summer 1. You just take 2 multiple test and 2 essay test (take home). Make sure to re-watch his videos and read the book and you should be ok. There are 50 questions on his multiple tests. I recommend recording his class because a lot of my essays was written on what he said, but of course not all of it. Intense but doable!

I took his online TX history class, it was very interesting and the work was easily spread out. Be prepared for 2 essays (midterm and final) 4-6 page minimum.

Dr. Haynes is the most interesting history teacher I ever had. Sometimes I wish I could go back and take Texas history over just to feel inspired. Everyone should take at least one of his classes. He even tried to justify to me why I didn't get an A because he knew how hard I worked. Hey - I was an English major, but I did work hard!

Dr. Haynes is so nice once you get used to his forthright personality. He's incredibly passionate about teaching and history. He will help you as long as you ask, even with other Hist. courses. That being said, he can be a bit harsh with feedback. Don't expect to hear a grand tale about TX History, but a more honest one. 2 tests, 2 essays.

Dr. Haynes is wonderful!! He is lively and keeps the class moving. This is not a blow off class at all, and you do need to do the readings and attend class, as the lectures are what everything is based off of. Two essays, Two MC tests, and that's it. If you can take him for any class, go for it!

He teaches well enough and he makes it somewhat interesting but the test questions are often subjective or are even something he never covered in class. The essay tests were okay but neither him nor the TA gave any reasons or corrections to indicate how you got your grade or what you did wrong. I studied fairly well and only got a C.

I took Haynes for TX history and for Presidential Personalities. Both classes were equally interesting because of his personality. Very passionate about his subjects. Read the books and you will do fine in his class. He is very helpful and approachable. I wish all teachers at UTA were like him.

There was moderate reading for the class. Four tests, two multiple choice and 2 essays, he gave the essay questions out atleast a week earlier and he or his t.a. would review the essays before you turn them in. He's not the easiest teacher but he's very intelligent and knows what he's talking about. I would def take another class from him.

You must read the books and take good notes for the tests, which are not difficult, but the essay questions might be difficult to understand at first so ask questions if you dont get it. I found his class to be very fun and interesting. I would definitely recommend this professor.

Take careful notes during lectures. He gives two mulitple choice exams and two papers that replace traditional exams. He is good about giving plenty of time to write the papers. An interesting and enjoyable class with fair grading. Teachers aids will read and grade your papers.

Haynes has to be the best history teacher there is! He gives out study guides so attendance isn't crucial but maybe necessary if you want an A. His tests are not hard at all he gives you about 30 multiple choice and the essay is given out a week before it's due so he's really helpful. He asks for 2-3 books and you do have to read them!

Professor Haynes it the best teacher I have ever had. He makes everything he covers quite interesting. His tests are half multiple choice, half essay. He allows a week to write the essay portion and the multiple choice is straight out of the book and lecture; he never throws any curve balls. Definitely recommend.

Class is easy, Exams 1 and 3 are multiple choice, Exams 2 and 4 are take home essays. The essays can be a little hard to understand, but he will look at a rough draft if you take it to him before it is due.
