Comment:
Sid's lectures are very boring and difficult to retain. The exams have 5 options and cover so much specific content. There's no study guide or review and when asked sid says we should know everything from the tested chapters. The content is okay but he breezes through the chapters with little explanation. Thick accent too but that's not his fault

Pretty easy class for the most part when it comes to the work. Be prepared for a lot of ppts for group projects. His exams are literally info off his ppts so pay attention to those the most. Class comments and participation is 6% of the grade so make sure youre commenting when you can make a contribution. Overall, really chill and approachable.

Starts off the class by saying he will make it difficult for you. Not what I want to hear and made me discouraged. Painfully dry and boring lectures. Monotone, quiet voice. The class is harder than it should be.

Honestly one of my favorite teachers ever. Super dry sense of humor that makes otherwise lengthy lectures enjoyable and really nice. Like a lot of other ratings have said, most test questions have "all of the above" "a and c" "none of the above" type answers so if you don't study it'll be rough. Great professor, would take again.

He is very bland so his lectures are pretty boring. He makes the tests way harder than they should be with options like: A, B, C, A and B, all of the above, none of the above. Overall is a nice guy, just not the most exciting lecturer.

He was boring, made class participation 8% of your grade, and his tests were difficult as they were formatted like (a, b, a or b, all or none of the above). It was hard to get a good grade on his tests, cause you were expected to memorize an extensive amount of information.

His class was hard, but he's a pretty funny guy. Made my semester interesting, to say the least. Not the best but not the worst.

Professor Syam is hilarious and easily the funniest professor that I've had at Marquette. He is extremely kind and tries his hardest to make the class interesting. Lectures based on powerpoints, attendance taken. Tests are pretty tough for a class of this difficulty but homework and participation are easy points.

He shares great personal stories that keep class interesting. He has dry humor. He loves technology and incorporates modern examples into class. I'm surprised to see that he has low ratings. Everyone in my class did well. We had a homework assignment before every test and it had problems that came up in our tests, so that was helpful.

Yikes. He's a nice guy, but his teaching abilities are awful. His lectures are long and boring, and he doesn't make any attempt to make things exciting or connect them to the real world. His exams always have things we never talked about on them, and if you don't know something, it essentially gets blamed on you, not his decision to not teach it.

Really good guy which is too bad because he has no idea how to teach a class. Lectures are extremely boring and too much time is spent on unimportant material. Tests always have surprises and focus on insignificant details instead of comprehension of the important concepts. Easily the worst business class I have taken. Avoid at all cost.

Syam is a really nice guy with a unique personality, but his class was terrible. The entire class is taught via powerpoints that are super boring, and he goes into detail about things that are easy to understand, while neglecting all the more difficult and complicated math material. Exams are tough, and there are always surprises on it. Curves tho

You must attend his long and boring lectures in order to do well on the test. There is NO homework which makes it hard to study for exams. He is very funny and smart and encourages class participation. Get on his good side and participate in class! Tests are challenging for an intro class.

Dr. Syam is great. But if you do not like giving presentations, this class is not for you. A total of 8 presentations. So a lot of busy work, but a quality professor.

Great guy, but man are his classes boring. Attendance is required. Exams are hard, but fair. Can boost grade with 20 percent HW grade (essentially free points) and 20 percent D2L quiz grade. Overall, it was a decent class, but tests require a ton of studying, and class is rediculously boring.

The worst lecturer I have encountered in my 3 years of higher education. Monotonous and really boring. He definitely knows his stuff but has no idea how to deliver an effective lecture. I would never take a class under him ever again and i advice everyone not to.
