Lectures are all over the place - she has difficulty staying on topic and sometimes struggles with basic facts. I basically had to teach myself the course, which wasn't too hard, but I'm a history major. On the good side, she is an easy grader, there are a few papers and tests throughout the semester but they're not very difficult.

class is super boring, but I usually just go on twitter on my computer until class is over. She really is a very nice and understanding person, but will call you out if she needs to. I wouldn't choose to take her again, but if I HAD to it wouldn't be the worst thing. The papers are annoying but doable.

Don't take this. Save yourself the time. It's not terribly difficult, but understanding what they're rambling about is the real challenge of the course, and they mishear or misinterpret every single question you could ask them about any assignment at any point in the class, so getting a clear answer is near impossible.

She never seems to know what she's saying, interrupts herself and gets angry easily. She lectures a LOT about things you 'should' know and says rude comments about grad school. Also tells lots of personal stories. The papers are easy, just make the formatting nice and she'll love it. Midterm is annoying, but she gives you old exams that are useful.

She is often wrong about the material. Read all of her lectures to pass the tests. Don't depend on her "study guides", which are old tests. She shuts you down if your opinion is different from her own. I took the class to learn about my culture but by the end of the semester, it was my most hated class and made me never want to take a class w/her

Overrated! She doesn't know her stuff. She makes mistakes. She talks non stop and offends you if u say ur opinion. Lectures are long and with no interest. If u wanna learn u ll have to read urself. However she makes jokes and she is an easy grader! Study her notes and do a good term paper and u ll get an A

She's a really great professor but there is definitely some hard work to be had in this class. You will need to study for the tests and the term paper is similar to other classes. You won't leave without learning something though.

She is the best History prof. I ever had. She has a passion for teaching & she makes it interesting. There is work involved during the course. However, is all worthy. For sure you will learn something priceless writing the term paper that she assigns from the 1st day. Only take her if you are willing to work hard and learn.

Dr. Gloster-Coates a very fair grader. Exams follow her handouts. Gives varied projects of which the term paper carries the most weight. She takes teaching very seriously and makes it worth your money. You will definitely walk away having learned something, especially from writing the term paper.

She's overall a good person but that's not why we are here. Unorganized lectures, disrespectful to students, goes off on tangents that have nothing to do with class. This will be my last class with her. I usually don't like to express negative views on a teacher but Prof.Gloster is sub standard.SORRY

If you don't like history, don't take this course. She expects a lot of her students and sprinkles in a lot of bible work. Luckily I had bronchitis during the semester so I got a bit of a free pass on the final paper (extension), but I really had to shmooze to get any kind of help. Just mention God and good will and you'll have an easier time.

Prof. Gloster is the chair of the History Department. I expected her to teach as well as my History AP in high school. Disappointing me so far... low interest in class, and tests are so so........ Had high expectations from her...

So far, I feel the class is managable. Lots of studying, but quizzes should not be too hard. She manages to crack a few jokes here and there hahaha.
