Comment:
lectures are boring and he reads off powerpoint slides every single day. He even turns the lights off, I mean come on!! However, he definitely knows what he's talking about (he's the network administrator for the college, I would hope so) and he is eager to help you if you have questions. Projects are difficult, but manageable if you start early

Comment:
Class is definitely not easy and projects are challenging and long. He makes an effort to make the class entertaining at times. Midterms are pretty much short answer and multiple choice, so that's reasonable. Overall, helpful and willing to clarify a topic if a student needs it. Pretty good professor.

Projects will kick you a**, midterm was tough. He is a nice guy though and will help when asked questions. He knows the stuff very well. Just go to class, do the assignments and ask questions and you should do well though.

I agree he is very pro Unix, but knows his stuff well and teaches us useful things that we would otherwise not know. I like his programming assignments.

miller is anti-MS and pro unix, which rubs some people the wrong way. If you are willing to learn some unix you still learn a lot of useful stuff. The assignments could be better, and the quizzes and final are mostly easy if you pay attention in class. He is a bit boring at times.

Emphasis in on security principles to apply in any computing setting with Unix being the primary case study. The class is very practical with real programming and real examples. This is a must class and should not be taken with anyone else. Some of the homeworks could be a little tougher.

This guy has no personality. Homeworks and quizzes were fine. Totally biased towards Unix. Could have learned more if he actually knew what Windows is. Not helpful in emails. Take this class with someone else if possible.

Comment:
We had a hmwk making a fully-functional IDS that was weighted equally to hmwks in which we summarize articles. Quizzes and final: easy if you went to class & paid attention (the latter is an effort, believe me). Nice guy but not the best. Inappropriate advertisements for open-source stuff in hmwks.
