I had professor williams for Honors Intro to Literary Principles - Poetry and I loved. She was fantastic and I genuinely missed lectures once Covid sent us home. The class is not easy but she really brought the poetry alive and led amazing discussions. Her feedback on papers is really important and if you listen to it and participate, its an easy A

Professor Williams is absolutely lovely. I have no idea why she has negative reviews. Very accessible, easy to talk to, and she will work with you! 4 papers of increasing length, but all doable. Class is very easy to prep for, just read over the poems and have something to say and you'll be fine. Do some work and get the easy A

Don't pay attention to the negative reviews--- Professor Williams is literally the greatest professor in the English department. She really prepares you for her papers and exams. She also holds helpful review sessions. And she's such a sweetheart. It's no surprise that she's the chair of the English department, she deserves it.

CW is not only one of the most distinguished professors in RU, but is one of the most prominent professors in the country. Consider it a privilege to learn under her wing. She's won the guggenheim award, she's head of the Eng dpt, and she has many other credentials. Take whatever classes she has to offer. She will drastically change your life.

Woe! to students who don't take professor Williams! The class is light, interesting, and fun. Her lectures are crystal clear. She is affable and extremely helpful both in and out of class. She's understands any personal issue a student may have. This rating doesn't justify to the amount of what she's taught me. Thanks professor!

This is a good teacher for 219 -- I learned a ton. Sometimes really interesting, sometimes less so -- but a great introduction that helped me with my other courses for the major.

If you already know things like meter, form, diction, etc... you have no reason to take 219 with Williams. It was AP all over again, just more obnoxious because there were 200 of us in the room. I'm sure she's great in other classes, but she makes 219 feel like poetry-lite.

If you want to learn what the course is *supposed* to teach: foundational poetry analysis/terminology and the canonical roots of the English poetic tradition, you *must* take her. She is bubbly, engaged; loves and *knows* the material. Just don't expect to come into an ad-hoc poetry gabfest where any interpretation is valid. Not for lazy students.

Prof. Williams is among the most inspiring teachers at Rutgers. Yes, the material is sometimes difficult. But if your goal is to learn and have your mind opened to new ideas, then anything Professor Williams teaches is worth your effort. I can't make sense of the negative reviews on this site, because that wasn't my experience at all.
