Nowak is a nice guy and is really helpful if you go to office hours. Quizzes are really easy. Exams are impossible though. The exam questions make you take things many steps farther than the homework or in class problems.

Comment:
Nowak is a good genuine teacher. His lectures often go more in depth than required for class and derivations become annoying, tedious and useless. Follow along with the book. Go to the PHYS help center to clarify anything. Three non cumulative tests- no final. Curves well. Can be reasoned with. Better than most professors.

So easy. He teaches straight out of the textbook. Lecture attendance isn't necessary. All of his quizzes and tests are straight from the HW. If you can do the HW problems, you will get an A.

Prof. Nowak is a very nice guy but tends to be a hard grader. On all of my exams I would get 0/16's or 0/12's because he gives no partial credit. You need to get the problems completely correct to get any credit whatsoever. Questions are also often worded oddly. "Trick" questions appear often on exams and quizzes.

Kind of a hard teacher, explanations are ok, but makes mistakes in class, usually other kids point those out. Liker others have said, exams are pretty hard, I loved physics before I took his class. He made me hate it. But then again I have heard he is better than Georgeoplis, so yea

TAKE HIM!!! He's so good. The class isn't too much to manage at all with him, and this is coming from an average grade-type of student. You need to take him for phys207, he's so nice and friendly!

Difficult class, he's not a bad teacher. Tends to rush through things, but will help. Exams are pretty hard, but he does curve and will cut you a break sometimes. Nice guy.

Comment:
Gives very straightforward explanations and examples of the material. Tests are pretty difficult, but then again, this is a physics class. But dont worry, Nowak gets students reactions after the tests and curves accordingly. Very fair teacher and an overall good guy. Labs help alot with grade, but if you miss a class, youll fall pretty far behind.

Very good grad-level teacher. Not sure about undergrad. He will give you help if you need it. Homework assignments were lengthy but covered a lot of information and tests were difficult but he's not a terribly harsh grader either.

not a good professor to take...physics is hard, but possible to do well in if the professor tests you at a normal level...exams were way to hard...do not take him.

ya physics is hard---but it's capable of doing well with the right professor---and NOWAK is definitly not the right professor. HE SUCKS. DO NOT TAKE HIM unless you would like to fail.

This course would be very hard regardless of the instructor.Nowak goes out of his way to explain the material(in a civil manner)and help his students do well in the course..the rest is up to you.Exams are hard but the labs and extra credit hw make up for that. Oh, and I did not do very well in this class so there is no bias in my comments.

wost professor ever. hands down. no wonder he doesn't wanna teach 207 again. he knew what he was talking about, but didn't explain it to the people that don't know physics at all. way too hard for an intro class to understand.

I took AP Physics B in Highschool and had zero problem with this course, got an A. PowerPoints are online, so you don't need to goto class, but I'd go anyway to see him explain it and ask questions. TA's are key if you don't know whats going on...Nowak isn't the greatest but there are no other teachers

Can't teach. Don't bother going to class, all lecture notes are online. Get the same experience looking at those. Just reads the powerpoint slides in class. Multiple choice tests are cool if you have no clue what you're doing.

Comment:
Knows his stuff, clear speaker. Uses powerpoint slides, which isnt the best approach for physics, easier to grasp problem concepts when they are worked out on the board. Gives very difficult exams, offers no partial credit. If youre not a genius, take it with someone else.
