I am not surprised to see this much negativity about Karen, she can be quite disorganized and comes off as half-hearted when it comes to lecture structure. But I enjoyed showing up to class and felt like I was always in a welcoming space, and my assignments always felt clear and tests were concise. I just wish the lectures felt more substantial.

I think participating helps you better understand the lectures. She always gave relatable examples and if you had questions she was available outside of class. I'd recommend taking her. Tips for quizzes, test and finals: her powerpoints--use them, write notes, all of the answers are in those piles. And the narratives also help you.

Would not take her class again. As school is online this year, it is critical that profs answer emails and this was lacking in her department. She would either not answer emails at all, or would take about 3-4 days to which the assignment was already due or the question asked was now irrelevant. Incredibly disorganized, had me question my major.

Karen was nice but disorganized. She went off topic numerous times during lectures to where you really did not understand anything. We were assigned recorded lectures to watch which were long with half of the time her going on tangents. She was slow at returning assignment marks with improvement feedback needed to complete others worth 15% of grade

Karen was extremely nice, understanding and friendly. She lacked when it came to organization though. She gives you less than one week to complete projects and arrives late to class almost every time. Class ends at 6:15pm but we're there until 7pm most nights because of how disorganized she is. Projects/papers were so hard with little instruction

This class was amazing! This was my second time taking a class with her and I made the decision to switch my minor to Psychology because of her. Notes are posted online before class and test outlines are given. There are also lots of opportunities for extra credit, especially in the Winter semester. I would definitely take a class with her again.

One of my favorite profs. Makes the course material interesting and explains in a way that is easy to understand if you pay attention in class. Would reccomend.

She felt really personable. It didn't really feel like a person who was paid to stand there and talk at me, it was more like a friend interested in the material sharing that interest with me.

After four years of university It is pretty easy for me to spot a good professor from a bad one. Karen certainly falls into the bad category. She is always flustered, Unorganized and lacks basic public speaking skills. She never follows her own grading scheme so be sure to watch your grades and email her when she forgets to give you points..

Nice but, her lectures are extremely hard to follow. I would've done much better in this class if I had another prof. She tends to talk about her coffee way too much, and cant stick to one subject at a time. I highly suggest using her PPTs to study, the textbook didnt help me all TOO much. Try to take your notes before class, it will help a bunch.

She's off topic a lot, and over explains everything but the way she explains thing doesn't even make sense. All over the place when she does stay on topic. Very nice person but i wouldn't take a course with her again.

I actually had Karen at SMU for her intro to psych class. SHe was very nice and approachable but was easily distracted and would go off on tangents very often. I didn't use the textbook personally but my friends loved the mindtap for studying. As long as you study and attend class - you will pass!

Karen McDonald was probably one of the laziest professors I have ever had. She says that in order for her to mark things we need to "nag her" because if not she doesn't think we care to see our grade...? She also gets off topic ALOT. She also told us to buy the text book but we were not tested on textbook material.

I really enjoyed this class. Her lectures were interesting and although she has a tendency to stray off topic a bit, it was related somewhat to what we were learning and she usually included a related question of the quizzes. Her powerpoints included everything needed for the quizzes and tests. I would definitely take another class with her.

Though the overall feel of the course is easy, I recommend attending class. Tests have a lot of questions related to things mentioned during class that you won't find in lecture slides or the textbook. A very vague teaching style, if you find yourself unsure of questions talk to Karen because she is willing to adjust awkward testing formats.

Dreadful.. So unorganized and posted slides contain duplicated information that you have to sift through to figure out what has and hasn't been repeated in previous powerpoints. In class lectures are pointless, goes off topic constantly. Would not recommend

I would not take this class again considering Dr. McDonalds tendency to stray off topic for lengthy amounts of time. She speaks a lot about herself and her family and not a whole lot about the actual course material.
