She is no doubt my favorite professor I've had so far. Her lectures are always interesting and leaves you thinking. She does show a lot of films throughout the semester but they were all very entertaining and informative. Lots of reading from textbook and novels but all very interesting! I hope I'll be able to take her again in the future!

By far the best professor hands down. She is so funny, sweet, and amazing. Class isnt an easy A cause tests are tricky but she definitely curves at the end. Go to her office hours!

Awesome. Thats how Id describe Prof. Federman. She is extremely funny & makes learning exciting. I looked forward to her class every week! She only grades 3 exams based on the material so prepare to study. The exams arent impossibly difficult but they are still a challenge. Earning an A is very possible if you prepare well in advance and study.

Very inspirational and wise prof. You will always leave class having learned something new! However, her test are REALLY tricky. Studying and going to class everyday does not guarantee an A bc she puts very small details that are hard to remember on exams. Good prof. but your grade depends more on memorization rather than what you've leaned :(

She is my favorite professor at state by FAR. She cares heavily about her students and does not want anyone to fail her class. Super funny. Tests are super hard, but she curves like crazy, (which she doesnt tell you until the end). Show up to class so shell like you. Youve gotta read. It's worth it. TAKE HER even if you arent a sociology major.

Prof. Federman knows her stuff. Granted there is only 3 exams that depict your entire grade, but they are super easy if you show up to class and read the material she assigns. There is a lot of reading but nothing unattainable. Super sweet and relaxing class overall. A lot of movies and discussions but super interesting. Definitely recommend!

Here's the deal. Federman is an awesome prof. & a great person. Hilarious lectures. However, your grade is solely based on 3 exams. And they're not hard, but they're a bit confusing even when you go to lecture and study. So an A is pretty hard to get even with hard work, but solid B is obtainable. Go to class to pass she gives study guides in class

I loved this class! I always looked forward to her lectures and she had the funniest comments! One of the best classes I have ever taken at state, and it's easy to pass. Of course, you will need to thoroughly study for an A, but it's an easy B.

The class was spent mainly watching videos which are all on the tests. There are 3 tests and thats it... no papers, no quizzes (despite her saying on the syllabus that there will be). She assigns A LOT of reading (emails random articles along with the textbooks), but i never read a single thing and got an A. relied on study guide only

The class was mostly about watching documentaries, but you also have to read. She seems like a out going person, not bad, but her tests were immensely confusing; too many synonyms. Other than that, just try to pass 3 exams.

The majority of the class is spent watching movies dealing with minority group issues. The textbooks and all novels are required. All of these things including her lectures are on the exams. She is extremely hilarious and only wants the best for her students.

Professor Federman shows a lot of videos. I'm talking about like 85% of her class consists of you going to class and watching videos. The few times she lecture I actually enjoyed. I think she should incorporate more lectures into her teaching style. YOU WILL HAVE TO READ. I really worked hard for the grade that I got.

Entire class is based off 3 exams and one possible extra credit paper. Three quarters of the class is watching movies, but the movies will be on the tests. All the books are required as she makes you read them for the tests. Interesting class but expects too much reading. Listen to the little details and you will pass.

Federman is amazing! Sociology is only my minor, but her class made me even more interested in the subject. She is hilarious and interacts with the students so you will never be bored in class. Test was pretty easy, but you definitely have to read the books she assigns! We talked mostly about poverty and the value of life (medical life support etc)

My favorite professor by far. 3 tests that you have to read to do well on (but theres a lot of google docs floating around). Funny, passionate, energetic, and well informed. She makes class interesting with modern examples & videos. You barely ever take notes. Really down to earth. Definitely recommend!

3 Tests and YOU MUST READ to do well on them. That being said one of my favorite professors here at SDSU. Amazingly funny and truly passionate about what she teaches. You will learn a lot in both of these classes you will just have to put a lot of work in to get good grades. If you're a SOC major this is a can't miss.

She is the most amazing professor I've ever had at SDSU! Definitely do not hesitate in taking her class, you learn a lot from her. She is extremely passionate and kind towards her students (curves exams too) and the reading is all very interesting and not overwhelming if you plan it out. Very easy A, just go to all her lectures, they're great! :)

Shows a ton of videos in class which will be on the test. If you show up to class everyday, the test questions will be straight forward but you NEED TO READ the material in the text to get an A. Also the assigned books are required for the exams. Federman is funny and her class seems easy but don't underestimate her tests! they're hard.
