The class was 90% tests,, 10% homework that most people just didn't do or pay for. You will probably have to teach yourself, but you only have to show up for tests. just study or do the homework during class time and stay ahead of the huge curve and you'll pass. 3 Tests 20%, Final 30%

I didn't think he is as bad as everyone rates him to be. It's a challenging class but I liked it because his notes were online. I actually went to his office hours one time and he was amazing at explaining a concept. He is definitely a math genius

Hui is beyond knowledgable. However, his lack of teaching skill made it impossible to understand anything he lectures on. He blazes through the material so fast in lecture and the online homework has little to nothing to do with how his tests are. Only take him if you want a crazy challenge. Only got a c because curve was crazy.

Comment:

Gives lots of very tough homework, however the midterms are easier than the homework. The final is worth 30% of your grade and it was nothing like previous homework or tests. His lectures are hard to follow and he is not easy to understand.

Hui was unnecessarily difficult. He doesn't know how to teach the material, so find a good study group or expect to teach yourself. Having a TA would be nice, but mine either cancelled their office hours or just didn't show up. Worst class I have ever taken. Try to avoid.

Hui was the worst math professor I have ever had. He teaches math through powerpoint slides and is terrible at explaining. He makes his test to intentionally throw you off and is SO BAD AT TEACHING I CAN'T EVEN EXPLAIN

THE worst math professor I've ever had. His accent makes it hard to understand, plus if you don't understand something, he won't go back and reteach it. The textbook was garbage and was nothing like his lessons. I went to every class and the only reason I passed this class was because of A+ review, even then it was borderline. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

Stefen's tough. He doesn't give Extra Credit or Curve Test. His test averages are low, and if your a procrastinator or a skipper, you won't pass. But if you have to take his course, his class isn't impossible. The trick is to make sure you understand his lesson before his next class. He's like a math shark, he doesn't goes backwards..

You have 2 midterms and a final. ALL 10 QUESTIONS WITH NO PARTIAL CREDIT!! I did not listen to the previous rate my professors and have to retake the class. PLEASE AVOID HIM!!! He gives no extra credit either. I have never failed a class or a test in my life until Hui. Half the time you can't even understand him bc of his accent.

I understand why undergraduates have difficulty in his class, but if your a graduate student (ESPECIALLY if you plan to get a PHD in math) then you NEED to be in his class!!!! He's tough as nails, but I wouldn't be where I am today without him. THANK YOU DR. HUI !!!!!

A hard class no doubt, you have to put work in. He is not much help but he has his TAs who are available and helpful. He provides little EC every now and then for those who go to class

Teaches math off of a power point. dont really need to say much more. He is a math genius but not a great professor, sorry to say it. try and find a spot with manchester if you can. if you are stuck with hui, GO TO A+ REVIEW.

Hui is not good at teaching. The semester I took him, he begged for questions after every sentence he said, and the one time this girl actually raised her hand he answered: "go study". He also tricks tests to create a curve, if the whole class is doing good, he might include questions in the test with no correct answer in the multiple choices.

Comment:

Hui was unnecessarily difficult. You could go into the exam with a firm grasp of the concepts and have felt perfectly comfortable on all homework and practice problems and still fail. I've never left a poor professor review in my life but Hui really goes out of his way to make exam questions as difficult and confusing as possible. Try and avoid.

3 midterms(10questions each) NO partial credit. Online hw. Teaches lecture with powerpoint slides. No attendance needed, slides are online. Avoid if possible. I got the scores of 510, 810,510, only did half of the HW and got 1020 on the final. The curve saved me and I got a C. Extra credit: Attend the last class before thanksgiving.

His lectures teach you the simplest way to use formulas and his tests (which makes up most of your grade) asks you the hardest way to use the formula. Avoid if possible.

WORST teacher I have ever had. Tests are only 10 problems and basically impossible. Went to A PLUS for every test and still barely passed! Going to class is pointless because his powerpoints don't make sense- you have to teach yourself.. If you ask a question he makes you feel dumb in front of 500 people. AVOID HUI !!!! AVOID HUIIII !!!!

He is an okay teacher, but he has an accent that can be hard to understand and he uses powerpoint slides. Your grade mostly depends on your test scores. The questions on the test were usually harder than the homework questions. No study guides or practice tests were given for any of the tests.

The worst professor I've had thus far. His lectures are essentially a showing of what you need to go learn on your own. Avoid if possible, if it won't set you back it's worth waiting a semester to try and get Manchester. Hui's tests are loaded with trick questions and the most complex derivations of the material he can muster up.

Comment:

Great lecturer. Always prepared and on point. Lectures are clearer than the textbook, which was hardly used. Ask questions in class instead of office hours. If you don't follow something on the board, speak up right away! Final Exam in 631A =super easy. Final exam in 631B=super hard, but grades mostly determined by homework anyway.
