Everyone complaining just doesn't know how to write a good paper. If you're a meticulous writer with good grammar and structure, it's an easy A. Manley was a cool guy who would help you if you asked for help. I never got less than a 90% on any of my essays. Maybe don't take him if your writing isn't the best because no, he doesn't give feedback.

Not too much work load for what the class was. Only had to write 4 essays for the semester. His grading was pretty tough, especially compared to other professors. However, he was pretty straight forward in what he wanted from each essay.

This guy just needs to get it together. Please dont take his class if you care about your grade. The first paper he gave everyone a 76%. Literally, everyone. The second he gave everyone a B. He wont give grades you deserve so only take his class if you are fine with getting a B or a C. The work isnt hard but something is wrong with his grading.

Boring lectures, but you have to go because attendance is worth a big portion of your grade. Weekly quizzes that can be tricky, and group work in class. 4 papers, and he doesn't give feedback on them which sucks.

Really helps out if you go to his lab days where you can just work on the essay. Manley can get a bit repetitive and his lectures might seem boring but just get through it and appreciate that you took Manley. He grades pretty lenient. Do all the work and lowest grade you would get is a B- at worst. Easy class and can be funny at times.

Manley is pretty cool, he may be redundant in his lectures, but it's better to be clear than concise + unclear. Most of you need to be spoon-fed, even if it means others have to hear the same thing 10x. Profs read lectures to us because they know we might not even look at them at home. He makes class and assignments easy, that's why it seems boring

Manley is a great guy and super caring. There is no problem taking this class with him. Very informative with what he wants for the assignments and grades them fairly. Don't listen to the reviews about this class being boring, how exciting can business writing actually get with any professor.

I took APlang (Got a 4) so I thought this class would be easy. Few assignments & he takes attendance (participation) every class. Hard grader & leaves no comments. There are 4 papers, the last is a group project. Class is optional the week a paper is due. He offers a lab, when I attended those I did better. Not sure what he likes in papers):

The only downside to this class is his lectures are boring and attendance is 15% of your grade. Few EASY online quizzes based on chapters from the textbook, most questions are common sense. EASY group presentation. Essays that he grades EASY. Overall easy class but bring a pillow to sleep through the lectures (wait you can't he'll call you out).

This was my favorite class my freshman year of college. Professor Manley is not credited for being such a good teacher!! If you enjoy writing you will do good in his class. He BARELY gives any homework, is super helpful outside of class, and is not a hard grader.

Friendly guy, will provide help and feedback if you ask, and I do not feel stressed in this class. However, his classes are incredibly boring and much of the time he is reiterating himself. I do not feel like I am benefiting much from taking this course aside from fulfilling credit for RWS200 GE.

I can tell he cares so much about the students and is super passionate about rhetoric, but damn what a bad class. the dynamic of the class is horrid. We just sit in silence and he doesn't realize that kids are making fun of him. Doesn't really teach you how to use rhetoric, just gives you some vocabulary. Papers are long and have vague criteria.

6 week summer course. Grade breakdown: 4 Journals10%, 3 Peer Reviews 10%, 3 Papers 60%, and 1 group paper 20%. The workload is doable for a summer class. However, I didn't really take away anything new from the course. Memoir is pointless, over 10 years in a corporate role and I never wrote one, busy work is what it is. Take the course CR/NC

Mr Manley is a nice and friendly person. His classes are a little boring and he takes attendance so try not to miss too much. 4 papers that do not require too much work and 1 groupwork project which is not stressful at all. Its an easy class but its a little boring.

His classes are mandatory but sooo boring. He doesn't give good feedback on papers so it is hard to know what he really wants you to do. There's only 4 papers so it's not too much work but overall just an awful class and didn't help my writing at all

My experience with Manley was not the worst but also not the best. I did poorly on my first paper but I began to improve. The class was silent for the most part I don't remember anyone from that class, not even their names, he will just stand there until someone gives an answer. Only 3 papers out of the whole semester, so not too bad.

I took his RWS 305W. I used a résumé he helped me create and was able to land a great job. Mr Manley may be a little tough but if you do the work you can easily get an A and a great job!!!

awful experience in class. unclear grading criteria. you'll probably get a B regardless of how hard you work. didn't learn anything nor did l get feedback for my "mistakes" which were never clarified. don't take this guy if you have any choice about it. probably on my top 5 worst professors list.
