He is the best one I ever had. Excellent teaching skills, you have to be silent while he's talking, He stated that rule from the beginning, he's strict but you will find how helpful he is with ULI101 course. Definitely take him again for my next courses.

He teaches you what you need to get good marks on the exams and solve the Quizzes, but I do not like his teaching methodology. You have to be mute in the room and extremely attentive to not let any detail pass. He does not like being interrupted and there are exaggerated rules of behaviour. Good teacher, but I did not feel comfortable with him.

John is a wonderful prof and an amazing human being. His lectures are always on point. Make sure to attend and take notes of everything he is saying and you will pass with a good grade. He makes everything very clear and simple.

Great teacher. Don't talk in his class and all is good. Between his teaching and the ULG classes you should have enough material to pass this class. Not necessarily easy but he has to be one of the best Linux teachers.

The best teacher for learning ULI. He does not read the slides (that is your task to do at home), but he covers everything in his lectures. He has the knowledge, and helps every student. Do not interrupt his class, and wait your turn for questions.

The man is harsh if you're just not really bothering during class (or interrupting him during the lecture parts), but if you are actually working and trying to succeed, he will try to help you with whatever you're stuck on.

Best teacher you can have for linux, and you definitely need a good teacher to introduce yourself to linux as most of you probably never used it before. He is strict but fair, he will help you (spoon feed) at the beginning but you need to keep up or it will be too late. If you work hard you will do will under john.

Probably the best teacher you can get for ULI101. It really felt like we were learning from an expert. John is basically a walking-talking book on everything Linux related. The course will be difficult if you don't attend & pay attention, but anyone that's dabbled in scripting/programming should pass with ease, and may even find it too easy.

He was one of the best professors that I've had so far, too bad it was only for half a semester during the summer. He was knowledgeable and encouraged questions during a lecture. One of my favorite teachers.

Great guy. Answers all questions respectfully (he seems to really believe that there are no stupid questions), is supportive, and knows and loves what he's talking about. He really hates people chatting when he's teaching, though, and he will go up to you and ask you to stop. If you show up and do your work, you will get an A.

John Samuel is one of the best teachers I have ever encountered. He paced things very well for non-programmers, and his assignments were extremely useful in learning PerlJava. He is also a very nice person; those who complain about him baffle me. John Samuel saved the BIF program from the joke that is Dan Fieldhouse.
