Took this course online. Schedule is a little fast with tests and quizzes varying in due dates in the middle of the week and on weekends. The self quizzes that he puts on there for practice are all you need. Go through those, he uses the questions from there on the quizzes and tests. You'll get 90-100% every time on both quizzes and tests.

Very useful, just write exactly what he does in your notes and study those! everything on the test was out of the notes you took in class. Very smart man, he throws in personal experiences to keep you interested in the class. was very nervous to take this class with him and i am very impressed with the turn out.

Dr. McLaughlin was a great teacher. This was the only gen ed that I had left and was pretty hesitant to take it. I heard he was a tough teacher. He is a very successful man so trust him and go to class, take the notes, read the assigned reading before each class and study all the notes. No reason anyone shouldn't get above a C.

Very biased teacher. If you take his course be sure to start out on his good side, or he'll grade you poorly on anything possible. Requires a term paper with no rubric or guidelines for the paper and then slaps a grade on it. Knows his trash but ready to retire and it is clear he doesn't care much anymore

I had him for Criminal Justice. Overall it was a well-taught class that challenged me to pay attention. My only issue was the way he treated the term paper. He just told the class to pick something and write about it. Pretty vague instructions. His stories were entertaining, but every once in a while he would just go off topic.

I have taken 3 classes with Dr. McLaughlin. I would take him again. He challenges his student and has a way of putting the information in your long term memory. You write a lot. Attendance is not required but without it you may fail. I recommend him.

I don't get the "rambling" crtique; he's almost always on topic. You just have to pay attention. If you don't get how stories connect, ask - he'll tell you and probably give you another one for reference! Having trouble? He'll help; he just won't do it for you. Grow up and do the work. Play favorites? No, just likes those who try. I learned lots.

I had McLaughlin for Criminal Justice. I really liked his class because his teachings were interesting. I think he is a good prefessor but his tests are what killed people like me. If anyone takes his course I would recommend going to class everday and reading from both text books. I studied really hard and still managed to fail.

He is a great person. When it comes to teaching, he needs to review before giving the quizzes so people understand what he expects on the quiz. Anticipate reading and doing a lot of work for this class because you can't half-ass it.

Love this class. Guy is hilarious. I dont have an A but I look forward to it every MWF. Test's aren't hard if prepared. Go to SI's the week before the test and you will be fine. VERY little content for tests, just need to know it well.

It's a very patterned class. You go in take notes and either do the microcase or read the chapter in the text. Then the next day you take a four queston quiz that's really easy if you took notes and the homework. The only hard part is the exam and term paper, alot of writing and concept understanding.

I had him last semester, and it was the only class I actually enjoyed at Northwest so far. He is funny and he knows what he is talking about (or makes it appear that way). If you can figure out how to work his class you can easily pull of an A...just don't be intimidated by his "only five people will get an A in here," because I don't believe it.

Like someone else said- he knows his stuff, and there are quizzes everyday, but as long as you do the assigned reading, you'll be fine. The quizzes are half over the lecture and half over reading, the lecture part he only quizzes over the stuff he writes down. If you're having problems in the class, ask questions. He's very helpful. GREAT professor

David is simply one of the best looking men on this campus. If you want some eye candy and lecture at the same time, this is the class for you. His wit and intelligence will make you melt. Have you ever seen George Clooney? Lets just say they could practically be twins. You can even go to his office hours if you want a little extra time with him!
