Professor Feldman is such a caring professor and wants you to succeed. In our Class he did whatever what was possible in order for us to be outdoors and enjoy the outdoors which was fun. But he is a very touch grader and is very picky on what he wants for assignments. He is not strict with extensions and giving you make up dates. Overall not easy.

Dr. Feldman is extremely smart. He knows every aspect of the environment. For first year seminar, this course was extremely difficult and science heavy. He is a very particular grader, however, he is willing to work with you and provide feedback when struggling. He listens to students and will change due dates when asked. Great with emails.

Lots of my peers did not like Professor Feldman. I personally really enjoyed this course and Feldman. My biggest tip is to read all of his instructions thoroughly and do any workshops he gives you. He likes to see that you paid attention to what he assigns.

He's a nice guy and cares about his work, but this class was tough for an FYS. He's a very strict grader when it comes to papers and projects, definitely don't slack off on any big assignments. He was also lenient about changing due dates when needed, but I felt that my work was never good enough for him. Textbook was barely used and expensive.

I had Feldman for FYS on environmental stewardship. He was kind & accommodating, especially amidst the pandemic. He took feedback on due dates & moved them if we needed more time. Homework was 3 exploratory responses, 5 quizzes, textbook readings, 2 field journals, a research paper & presentation. Final is 2 essays. Not too hard, but do the work!

Professor Feldman is very kind and wants you to succeed. Hes here to help and offers solid feedback. The field journals are not something you can slack off on - theyre big parts of your grade and need lots of time. Hes open to dialogue about your grade and helped me with mine at the end of the year.

Going out into the field was possibly the highlight of my semester. You get very close with the people in your class as the course work is easier conquered with peers. The flower quizzes were not hard as they are open notes. The tree quizzes were difficult so learn the latin names early and you should be fine.

He definitely cares about his work. We went to the Fern Tor trail across campus & I have never seen someone so interested literally everything. He would stop every two feet to look at & deeply explain a leaf, bug, or acorn. He relies heavily on participation so you have to raise your hand a lot. It is also very lecture heavy so be ready to sleep.

It is my second time as his student. He is an amazing professor, but he is also a tough grader. I had him for residential and I loved, his lecture is fun, easy to memorize. However, for this course I think he is kind of intimidating, and I am shy, so it wasnt a good combination. Even if my grade is not that good, I learned a lot with him

Feldman's class was difficult at first because he cares about participation a lot, but it ended up being one of my favorite classes at Marist so far. There's barely any homework and only 3 tests per semester and he even drops the lowest grade. He's very passionate about what he teachers, so the lectures are always interesting.

There are only a couple assignments each semester, which is good because its less work but its bad because they count more. The tests are fair because he gives you practice tests with the exact essay questions. Also, the stuff we learned was pretty cool!

This teacher is amazing, he really breaks the topics down to simple and common understanding. If you pay attention in class and do the practice tests then this class will be a piece of cake. I found this class to be one of my favorites so far in college, and got me more interested into the environment than I already was. take him!!

I'm not interested in science, however, Feldman's passion made me enjoy the class and my grade reflected it. Very important information for our generation and he makes it relatable. I learned far more than I expected to. He makes the tests very fair, just show up, pay attention, and use the practice tests. He wants you to succeed & help the Earth:)

The only 8 am class I was excited to get to. Field trips were amazing and convinced me I picked the right major. Learned a lot each time while also enjoying it. Feldman gave us lots of information about each place and what we were looking at. Nice man. Sometimes is was other experts that we met who also taught us; most were real good too

Feldman and Grinnell are a great pair in the classroom. Feldman explained the science in interesting ways that were clear and related it to what we read. Helped me to appreciate the readings a lot more and appreciate the environment more, too. Doing the field journal really opened my eyes to the world of nature.

Dr. Feldman is an amazing professor. He very dedicated and driven. He is very passionate about environmental issues. Do not take this class "just as a core", it deserves more respect than that. Go to class, listen to the lecture and you will not only do well in class but, learn valuable information.

Best ever course in my 3 years at Marist. I wish there was another course like it. Learned so much during each field trip and even on my own. We had fun each week at different field sites. It was nice being out there with Dr. Feldman getting to know him and also getting to know what he wanted us to focus on at each place. Fair grading.

After reading some comments from other raters wasn't sure if I would like this course, but it just kept getting more interesting every week. I learned so much that is relevant to what's happening with our world and how to do my part. He works a lot of videos and pictures into his power points so they stay interesting. Changed my views on stuff.
