Professor Wheatley is a real gem! I would take the class over if I could; it was one of the most enjoyable/ entertaining classes I've taken at W&M. Our discussions were great and I loved all the critical context we got. She's very friendly if you go to her office hours. She grades and responds to emails quickly. I would highly recommend this class!

I'm not sure whether I would take another class with Prof. Wheatley. I warmed up to her as the semester progressed. She is certainly willing to give aid and insight on drafts of the formal papers (I sent her my draft for each formal paper, and she responded with comments and feedback). She takes herself rather seriously and is a cold person.

Dry teaching, takes herself way too seriously. and just an all around unkind person. The only William & Mary professor I truly dislike. When I was struggling w/ depression over sexual assault and not doing my best work, she was cruel, unprofessional, and had no leniency. Clearly does not care about her students mental health or wellbeing at all.

Comment:
Professor Wheatley is very picky and confusing when it comes to grading. I definitely found the class extremely boring, which made me dislike it even more. She doesn't post our grades on Blackboard, so you don't even know your current standing in the class. Personally, I regret taking this class as my COLL 150.

She is very boring and in my personal opinion, does not know what a well written essay looks like. She has obvious favorites in the class and I am not one of them, which is okay because she is definitely not my favorite.

I have a lot of mixed feelings. I dont think she liked me very much so she was cold to me, but if she likes you, she makes sure you know it. Very knowledgeable about Romantics, but structure of class was terrible. Midterm and 5-7 page paper within a week of each other. Have to memorize practically all of the readings for the exams. Meh.

I loved Kim, she really cares about the topic and she knows a lot. However, she is quiet and it's a little easy to fall asleep during class if it's early in the morning.

She is AMAZING! I am a science major, but wanted to take a college English class and am so glad I did. I learned SO much and have improved my writing skills tremendously. Only two 5 page papers, a midterm and a final. She is so kind, funny, and understanding. Absolutely take a class with her.

Kim is the cutest and cares a lot about the subject (maybe too much?). All the pictures of her vacations to major literary spots are on Blackboard and you'll see ALL of them. This class is not an easy A, but it is definitely achievable and I would totally take it again.

Prof. Wheatley certainly is a sweet lady, but I do notice that she's not as sweet if she doesn't like you. While there is a lot of reading, most of it is accessible and she'll go over it in class. She gave good feedback on papers and everything was fairly graded. Would often stay after class to answer questions. Overall, a good professor.

Prof Wheatley is such a sweet little lady, but she is b.o.r.i.n.g. with a capital B. Her soft British voice sounds like it should be in a 1972 documentary about algae after about 45 minutes of her class. She knows her Jane Austen and is very lenient with her grading, but her lectures make me want to suffocate myself with a corset.

Professor Wheatley was a fantastic professor! Lectures were engaging and interesting, and assignments, though plentiful, were clearly graded. Professor Wheatley gave great feedback, and taking her class definitely improved my analytical writing skills. This isn't necessarily an easy A class, but if you work hard you'll do well. Be prepared to read!

I think Wheatley is a brilliant professor. Sure, she may be a tough paper grader, but her comments are helpful and constructive -- besides, isn't that the point? The reading was interesting; also, she provided workable paper topics and related film clips.

I really liked Wheatley. If you completed the reading and attempted to throw in a couple comments during class discussion, she grades you in a favourable light. I had no major interest in the subject matter, but she kept me awake: even though she awkwardly laughs at her own jokes nad will go off on tangents about things. Her class is worth taking!

Prof. Wheatley epitomizes W&M: kindly, timid, awkward. Lectures are solid, & segue into long discussions. Those can be aimless; she's too mild to tell people when they've said something dumb or off-topic. Paper comments were opposite: very critical, *very* helpful. 3 short papers, 2 exams w/ fact & essay portions. Final is cumulative. Take anyway!

Comment:
She's enthusiastic, inserts lots of humor into class, and leads discussions that are a lot of fun. When she lectures it can get a bit dull, sometimes, though. The comments on my first paper were scathing (although it got an A) and actually helped me to improve my writing. I love her. Pleasant accent, too (she hails from Bath, England).
