Comment:
He's a very smart man and is very passionate about history. But, I found this class absurdly time consuming for a gen ed. There are 2 papers (and an optional 3rd) that aren't bad, but at the end there is a 10 page paper that is relatively easy just time consuming. If you aren't a history buff it will be super hard to follow along and learn anything

Awesome prof. I loved talking to him after class, he really knows his stuff. Some of the material is stale as can be but Prof Hanson tried to make everything as enjoyable as possible. There's class participation, and attendance is mandatory. Exams are take home essays and based off the notes + textbooks. Finished with A-.

He is a very nice man, and is understanding, doesn't demand like most teachers and he is very reasonable when it comes to technology faults. Although I was quite bored in his class because its very hard to follow along when you arent a history major, he gets deep into the material and i felt a bit lost.

I took Hanson for 3rd world history. He's so smart he can't dumb himself down enough so the average person gets what he's saying. Im a history major and I was still lost/bored most of the time!If you answer a question wrong in class, he makes you feel stupid and the papers he requires are on the most tedious topics.

As a nontraditional student I need a teacher who knows more than I do to keep my interest. Matt Hanson is the man. He's very organized and knowledgable and his elocutionary style is easy to listen to on a daily basis. He encourages you to learn and participate. He's a big league guy!

Easygoing is the key word. Wants his students to do well, so he gives them plenty of opportunities to improve their grades. Recent physical ailments made him cancel some classes, but overall, a good guy who just wants to teach you about how the U.S. neglects third world interests.

We nicknamed him the "AntiChrist." If you got an answer wrong in class, he made you feel stupid. Lectures were long, boring, and pointless; who spends 3 classes on the Bank of America and NO TIME AT ALL on the Civil War? Gives you questio

all you had to do was show up for class and take the three take home exams, which were 5pg. responses to questions you get to choose from. He was a real nice guy, and very knowlegable.
