Comment:
Really cares about the students and loves to get to know them. A very fair grader. Tells you what is on the tests/quizzes. That being said, he is extremely boring and goes off on random tangents that have no relevance to class and could last as long as 30 minutes. Lots of wasted time. Very boring. The textbook is much more useful.

Extremely nice guy, likes to get to know all his students and is very helpful outside of class. His teaching methods are somewhat on the dull side and he can go off on random tangents. You will do a lot of the learning from the book. That said, he curves like mad; to quote him a week ago: "a 5 out of 10 is a good grade in my class."

I found Dr. Abzug very interesting, and totally committed to students; while unwilling to do their work for them, or pretend they knew the material when they didn't. If you want someone to hold your hand, spoon-feed you, and give you an easy pass while teaching you nothing, you need to look somewhere else. Here is a man of excellent integrity.

Try to avoid, at least with this class. You will not get your money's worth! You end up teaching yourself from the book. He makes mistakes when teaching you, yet expects you not to make any mistakes on tests and quizzes (i.e. doesn't give much partial credit). Tests usually contain problems that are usually above the level of homework assigned.

Average overall. Tends to read from PowerPoint slides. Attendance is not mandatory, but perfect attendance plus participation equals massive extra credit. Very effective at answering questions. Light workload. Tests very difficult but they are curved. Really nice guy, will go out of his way to help you. Unmatched availability, 24/7.

Abzug is a great guy, very nice and easy going. However he is just too old to be teaching. He reminisces way too much and I couldn't stay awake once in his class. He's very smart but hebrew with him is just so boring. Show up to class, read the book and memorize a lot of vocab. Attendance isn't required but he will notice.

He is nice and knows his stuff, but his class is impossible. He makes assumptions on what his students know and goes through the material very fast. He is one of those teachers that are really smart but can't convey the material well enough to his students. Try to avoid - try getting Dr Fox.

If you have yet to be 'Zugged! you have yet to live in the CS department. The man can be a bit boring at times but sincerely cares about your problems with the work and is always available 24/7 (even if you need to get bailed out of jail... not that anyone would ever need that) Pay attention in class and above all GO SEE HIM FOR OFFICE HOURS!

Class was extremely boring, although it was much more the material's fault than Abzug's. Go to class. Don't try and learn the material on your own, often the material taught in class will be very specific and he'll show you exactly how to do the problems that are on the quizzes. Top-notch availability if you need help...24/7, believe it or not.

Abzug is a good guy, he wants you to do well... but actually doing well is another thing altogether. The weird part is that his quizzes and exams are easy. He just doesn't offer partial credit, so one mistake and its ALL wrong. If you want to get a good grade, avoid.

Class seemed boring in begining but if you have a couple friends n the class that are willing to speak up hes willing to let it become a more fun class. Also he has a humor that you dont become accustomed to until the middle of the semester. I dont mind this class nearly as much as i thought i would

Its only been one day and so far all of the hype I have heard about this teacher is true. His lectures are boring and his syllabus is completly irrational. You will never find another teacher with a policy this strict. I can't wait to inevitably fail this class. Avoid this teacher or you WILL regret it.

Absolutely horrid teacher. He has been on time to class exactly once thus far this semester (halfway through) and always ends class late as a result. Wastes class time on easy things, making them seem far more difficult than they are. The difficult things he has difficulty explaining at all. Avoid at all costs if you want to learn anything.

I just remember distinctly being told that there would be no (NO) assembly on the final exam, and how 25 points of the final were an assembly question. I remember someone asking him if was a joke. Also terribly boring.

Plain and simple: Abzug is a nice guy and he means well. Can be very arrogant, and likes to make his own terms for everything cause his way is "right." You're going to be bored, you're going to be lost. You might even become an alchy after this class. If youre a perfectionist get over it. There's no way to win. Could be worse, however.

Extremely boring & lectures are not very helpful. Exam questions hardly follow the assigned readings. However, he assigns barely any work, provides options for extra credit, & curves substantially (a letter grade). By far, the easiest prof who teaches 450/550. Other options for 450/550 (i.e. Arch Harris) will make you hate life & be 10x more work.

I really wish he'd retire. He tries hard to make it an "interesting class" but there's no way that's humanly possible with him teaching. Maybe if Bernstein taught I might have actually learned something. It's now week 9 and I still don't know what I've learned (Ive gone to class). Avoid if possible. If you wanna fail or waste your time, take it.

A nice person, but exacting. His standards are spelled out very clearly in syllabus and other materials (at least for the Hebrew class). Wonderful sense of humor, very approachable and pleasant to deal with. A messy office, sometimes seems harried - but knows his subject matter, or will find you the answer, whatever it takes. A man of character
