Absolute trash class with insane amounts of work. Assignments use tools that are not taught in class.

funny guy, fun lectures, very accomodating, office hours are helpful, homework is hardddd af which is where i think most kids complain about, but they're not worth alot so even if u miss some pts i think ur good, quizzes and final are pretty easy, time consuming class for sure

He became one of my FAVORITE professors, so hilarious. Homework is definitely difficult, but doable. Quizzes every week which sucks but made the final really easy since I was forced to learn. His office hours not alot of people go, but he looks at your code and helps you debug it. He also extended deadlines like 3 times when people asked. 10/10

Funny guy, but the workload is pretty heavy. There is a spike in difficulty in the middle of the quarter as you tackle LISP and PROLOG assignments. Three weekly quizzes and a consistently tough homework assignment makes this class challenging, but they aren't worth much of your grade-- feel free to skip the harder ones if you just want to pass.

One of the most inspiring professors in the CS department. They way he organizes the classes doesn't make them easy, and you will hurt your grade if you don't take the work seriously. but you'll get an excellent opportunity to learn from him. He is a great teacher and he really cares about your learning, just not an easy professor.

This class was very unorganized from the start. Initially we were supposed to have 10 Projects (1 per week) along with mini Lecture Activity assignments (1 per week as well). No midterms/no final. Our current proj was so poorly written that I'm on RMP writing this review. Save your grade and time, do not even consider taking this course..

This man doesn't give any instructions. I got a 99% in ICS 45C and am taking this class P/NP. Not because it's intellectually hard. This professor gives the most ambitious guidelines and uses an autograder that gives you all or nothing. Very unresponsive on piazza. Advertised this course as teaching advanced concepts, but didn't even teach.

Really funny and active professor. You can't NOT pay attention in his class, the way he teaches. Imagine the "Double Dream Feet" guy teaching you about v-tables. You do have to go to each and every lecture, because there are quizzes at each one, and he dropped huge homework hints in lecture before the due dates. Great prof with a bad rap from 122B.

Klefstad isn't the best the ICS department has to offer, but taking ICS 46 with him is doable as long as you have the time to invest in keeping up with the weekly programming assignments. Class moves at a pretty brisk pace--there's two short quizzes a week, so don't think about skipping. The final was a breeze.

Happily graduated with nothing but bad things to say about klefstad and his classes. Definitely avoid him if you can. His classes are all poorly organized and very intense. His 122b was by far worst experience I've had at UCI. Nobody knew how grading worked or how to do the assignments because TAs (poorly) ran the entire class.

HW is straight forward implementation of data structures. He is good at teaching the first half of the class (data structures), but not useful for the second half (sorting/graph algorithms, the more theoretical stuff). Easy to get a high grade because majority of grade is quizzes spread out over the term, and HW is graded leniently.

His 46 class was an easy A; as long as having some knowledge of C++ and willing to dedicate your time to do the homework. He was accessible outside the class and he was willing to dedicate his time to help the students in homework problems and lectures.

klefstad was alright for 45c but 122b was definitely too big of a jump for him. the class was a mess. i would have been more understanding if they had handled the problems better. the TAs and professor should have lowered the insane workload once they realized how many mistakes were in all of their documentation/instructions

First homework assignment was tough and time consuming, so make sure to start early. For 46, his lectures were great. Data structures is an important concept and Klefstad teaches the material well. Quizzes every lecture (labeled lecture and hw quiz). Would you rather take midterms worth 20% each or have quizzes worth 2% each?

Nope Just say no. Disorganized and he doesn't even teach, all the teaching is done by TAs. Maybe his other classes are good but not this.
