Very unclear on what he wants. His notes are a mess (he doesnt believe in making power points or a pdf for students). Told us the exam was going to be open book and 2 days before the test changes it from being open book to closed book as well made it a proctored test when it wasnt supposed to be. Makes it unclear as what he expects from students.

He is so disorganized it makes this course brutal. He will not finish a sentence before jumping to a new topic. He posted our notes as a notification on bright space instead of a PDF or word format which makes the organization hell. GOOD LUCK

I can't talk highly enough about Dr. Staveley. Such a funny guy and always kept the class engaged. Seems to really care about his students and always answers questions thoughtfully. Cell bio is a heavy course but weekly quizzes kept us on top of the material and it's clear Dr. Staveley wants his students to do well while learning a ton of info.

Really great guy. He's always asks twice if he is accommodating you appropriately. He has very clear lectures, grading, and expectations. Weekly quizzes are easy marks if you read your material and do the questions. He really knows his information but is more interested in sharing it than showing it off.

Dr. Staveley is extremely knowledgeable about the genetic field. His notes are concise and informative and will prepare you for his tests and final. The course is one you will have to work for but Dr. Staveley makes a high mark attainable as he is a very fair marker.

An absolute gem. He explains things very well and is eager to answer questions. His notes aren't the best, but he is definitely willing to clarify! I had some personal issues during the semester and he was super accommodating and caring. So funny and gives so many hints about exams! Literally posts exam questions during class!

You don't have to go to class, but you would be stupid not to as he gives so many hints and his lectures are really good. Overall a great prof and really cares about student success and always talks about postgrad opportunities and gives you an idea of what those might look like.

Great prof, super funny. The course itself is pretty heavy on material, but he makes it bearable and explains it pretty well. His notes aren't the best, but not too bad. Most of his test questions are repeated from years before so get your hands on some old tests. Participation doesn't matter but he gives A LOT of hints if you go to class.

Lectures are clear and access to lecture material and supplemental material is easily available. Courses are extensive but helpful for post graduate studies. Dr. Staveley goes above and beyond to make himself available for those willing to be involved with their education and is a great mentor as well.

Dr. Staveley is the first professor at MUN that encouraged me and made me feel like I was more than a number. He is extremely intelligent, very sarcastic and an overall excellent prof. He covers a lot of material, but makes the course interesting. Be prepared to study, but I promise you if you put the work in, you will certainly be rewarded.

GREAT proff! Extremely helpful and very caring of his students. He's very willing to help you out with both class problems and when figuring out your university goals. Labs are very difficult however, but the lecture portion is simple. Equals out to a good mark.

Thought I was going to scrape by and came out with a fantastic grade. If you are struggling take time to see him, he makes things much clearer. Hard work needed (most time consuming of my classes this semester) but you get back what you put in.

The only prof who knew and cared who I was. Makes you want to do well! His material is 20x harder than Dr. Murrin's but he's a much more exciting prof. You need to go to his classes. He basically tells you half of the exam. Lab is hard though, just accept a bad mark lol.

Staveley is a great prof. He's so smart! He knows his stuff and knows how to teach it. It really helps to go over the notes befor class, the material gets pretty tough at the end of it. Go to class because he will tell you if what you're learning that day will be a long answer on the final exam. He's a pretty funny guy, too! He's the king of plaid.

Dr Staveley is a good guy, very friendly and helpfull. I was very impressed at how he goes to the labs and makes a point to learn his students names. The course itself isn't easy, though it can be intresting and the notes are pretty clear. The labs are completely &*%#@$ though, expect to get alot of 4/10 and 5/10.

very very hard course with a lot of work.getting an 80 is my biggest acheivment in MUN!u can't just wing the exams, ther's so many essay questions that u have to know things inside out.on the final 1 of the Qs. required summurizing a 40 pg Ch. in 1 page! Labs are not bad, a 35% research paper, but be careful of lab Qs. on the final.there's alot!!

I think this proff wrote all the good comments about this course himself. The course is absolutly brutal,my hardest in my four years in Mun.The proff is really nice but he's a brainiac.he teaches a 520 pg book of things u new heard of before in 3 months. exams are really difficult, MOSTLY short & long answer essays, so u have to study ur @ss off.

he teaches the second half of the course, and i liked him and his exams way better than Fay Murrin's. Great proff, and good notes. This course is intersting, and i would have liked it alot more if it didnt have such hard labs. they are horrible and the lab instructor is such a pain in the ass. i truly hated those labs. lab final exam was brudal.

Good fun and interesting guy. Always joking about something. Material is hard but his lectures and notes are clear and easy to follow. He's the only prof I ever had that knows my name. I recommend him for sure.
