He nice old guy but didn't teach much about writing a paper. Felt almost he expects us to improve from just his comments which is hard to understand because he has bad handwriting. Also he talks about newspaper articles and stories more than talk about how to improve as a writer.

Looking for an easy A to satisfy a req? Take this. Grade is based solely on 4 papers, a midterm, & a final. Easy grader. Wrote negative comments on one of my papers but sitll gave me an A. Exams are a breeze if you shmoop the texts beforehand & pay some attention. He'll say you need all the books, but you don't. You can google them in class.

Honestly, Professor Morse is a pretty great professor if you're looking for an easy A with very little work. He only has like 4 assignments throughout the whole semester, and out of those 4 assignments, 3 of them are exams. Don't worry though, cause he's a really easy grader too. If you need a good grade with very little work, take him.

Professor has mental issues. Always slamming his books during class, yelling unexpectedly, and no one has any idea what he is talking about. Claims he knows how to teach yet lacks any skill whatsoever. You won't know what will be on the exams till the day of. If you want a professor who knows how to be professional, avoid this guy at all costs

Professor Morse isn't going to fail you because you missed class. With that said, he grades based on what you know and what you can show him. What I love about his teaching method is that it's all about the connections you can find. He always says "there is no right answer I'm looking for." He truly wants to be enlightened by your insights.

4 essays, 1 midterm, 1 final. Easy class. Just keep up with the reading and you will do fine. Dr. Morse is a very easygoing guy, tries to be funny which makes the long class go by a bit faster. Always there for you if you need help and is very understanding. Would take his class again.

He would literally just read poetry to us for the entire class period, or he'd have us go around the room and read a poem line by line. He exposes you to really great pieces of poetry but doesn't offer any insight. I'd take another professor. Also, don't by the $85 anthology, he'll let you google the poems in class.

A kind-hearted, well-intentioned prof. Goes off on tangents A LOT, but he has great knowledge to impart if you listen carefully. Easy grader and kindly tells you if you're wrong. Lecturing style is kind of boring, most people surfed the net, which is sad because I'm sure discussions couldve been great.

The worst class at UHM. He never taught what he tested on and had attitude if you tried to get the class back on track, and away from his tangents. Yes, he hates prose, but loves poetry. Exams are in-class essays covering 2-4 authors. This class isn't worth the aggravation (unless, you are one of his favorites)!

Attending this class felt like agony. Prof spent less than 10% of the class actually talking about what we were supposed to be reading. Easy grader but his pedagogic strategy is all over the place. Would make up excuses so he wouldn't have to grade assignments. If you care about learning at all DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.

Prof. Morse is amazing. He really knows what he is talking about. Sometimes he can get caught up in what he is going over but you tend to find yourself using what you learned from him in other classes. Assignments are straightforward and he will always find time to help you out.

Yes, Professor Morse does go into tangents, but he is an extremely passionate, informed expert on his subject matter...It's easy to do well in this class. 1. Keep up with the reading. 2. Participate. 3. Be able to find connections between anything and everything he throws at you in his essay assignments and exams. This class improved my writing.

This guy is a straight OG.. Super easy A unless you lack any and all writing skills. He changes syllabi every term but throughout he gives his opinions, just write about what he says in class and throw your own twist on it and you will get an A guarantee

Ok, he does go off on tangeants from time to time, but he is such a funny lil guy who is very passionate about English and literature, and is also nice, and very helpful. His class so far has been fun to take, and the opposite of stressful for the most part, which I really appreciate.

Spends most of the class on things unrelated to current work, but clearly passionate. Attendance is NOT mandatory. It's writing intensive, but basically he gives you a thesis for each book and you just have to back it up with evidence. Not a lot of creativity to it, but it's easy.
