Comment:
Ropp knows so much about his areas of expertise but he isn't always clear. Often found myself taking piles of notes for not very much tested info. Also class discussions are not facilitated well and he relies on the TA to run half of them, so often they end up being pointless. Still there were many interesting ideas discussed.

Comment:
Prof. Ropp is a nice man. His lectures are boring. Class lectures prove difficult because it's hard to tell what is important. He harbors so much knowledge but he doesn't get it across well. He grades very hard, and not very fair. I never understood what he wanted. He assigned a lot of reading, I spent a lot of time reading for his course.

I love this professor. He is kind of hard but he is also really helpful and understanding. His classes are always interesting if you are really into Asian Studies but if you aren't it seems kind of boring. The worse part of this class is all the books you have to buy. This year- 6 or more. The best part about this class his him!

Prof Ropp is a intelligent and compassionate. He expects the highest quality work of any professor I've had at Clark, but it is rewarded with good grades and praise. His courses have improved my writing imensely. He also taught me how to love a woman and discipline a child. truth.

I had Prof Ropp in 1987. Though I took the course as a requirement, not out of great interest in general chinese history, I wound up read EVERY page he assigned because I thoroughly enjoyed each of his classes. He was an engaging and memorable teacher.

Paul Ropp is one of the few truly generous intellects in the pea pod, and cares for the well being of his students beyond the scope of his own classes. Visit him during office hours for enlightened conversation and extra "choice" bibliography.

Professor Ropp does not enjoy teaching Writing History and it shows. He did not explain the papers and he seems pretentious. Sure, he might be good with Asian history, but not this class
