at Ryerson. He was my favourite prof in first sem. He's so kind and really cares about his students. Real Sweetheart. He has tons of life experience which is hella cool but he does go off on random tangents (love his stories tho). However, his slides are a little messy and I feel that he should teach upper courses so he doesn't have to dumb it down

Gerd is an amazing prof. He has wonderful lectures and isn't a hard marker. He figured out a way to make 3-hour lectures interesting and basically you don't ever get bored in his class. He really cares for his students' well-being and ensures that they would get the best experience out of that class. Would definitely have him as a prof again!

Gerd is a really knowledgeable and kind professor. He encourages us to participate on zoom and has polls to get to know us better. Lectures are interesting and its one of the only classes that I enjoy sitting through. There are two writing assignments, reading quizzes, and a final research assignment (no exam). I haven't finished yet but love him

very nice guy, and was trying his best but his lecture format was messy, going off on tangents about things that were really relevant to the course. He is very strict on papers mostly in terms of spelling and grammatical errors. Has a alot of readings but the exam was based on them. i recommend splitting the work with friends if you can.

He has good intentions in wanting students to understand they have choice in how their schooling goes . His slides were hard to follow and had very little content beyond relatively common knowledge. Hard to study because of the lack of distinct content and points, but had some good assignments. Really nice man, could teach, was funny, messy slides

At Ryerson. Very interesting and intelligent man. Has lots of life experience. Think he would be better in higher level courses. For lower you could tell it was hard from him to simplify and pair down what he taught, which made slides confusing. He really does care, is funny and has a cool accent. Projects were marked harder, but a good person/prof

Had him at Ryerson but has no profile there. He's an awesome guy - clearly cares about his students, and easy to talk to. He gives very detailed feedback and is pretty fair. Just don't make grammar mistakes because he catches everything and docks serious marks.

Had him at Ryerson a few years ago but there is no profile for him there. Terrible professor. Pompous, arrogant, bad attitude towards students. Spends a lot of time name-dropping to inflate his already large ego. Don't take his classes, they're awful.

Great prof! Going to class isn't manadatory because he puts his slides online, but it makes taking his quizzes easier. Taking an upper year class with him makes all the difference - awesome teaching style and great in-class discussions... if that's your thing. It's nice not being talked at for three hours.

Gerd is a brilliant man and if you get a chance to talk to him outside of class, you get to know him as a friend, not just a professor. I also experienced him as a director which gave me a even larger respect for him. Though the tests and assignments were challenging, I learned a lot. I highly respect and appreciate this man very much.

Quite annoying to be around, and his slides were pretty random and disorganized. I liked the fact that he put his slides online. Never really had an interest in going to class because he was pretty boring. Never participated in class for the same reason. Don't really like him all that much, and it was an ass outside of class.

Gerd's class was very insightful. He is one of the most intelligent professors that I've had, and his lectures are outstanding. He is also very approachable, nice and fair. Those who expect drama to be 'easy' will sleep in class or cry over gerd challenging them. Those who want to develop, won't. Drama students have to be able to take criticism.

first of all, i was always asleep, and whenever i did wake up, he was saying something stupid. i didn't learn anything in that class. he constantly tells the same story over and over and he uses stupid metaphors to explain random things - for example, we are all like hamburgers. i don't know how, because i was asleep for the other half of it.

Thought he was a bit of a chauvinist to be honest. He likes to debate with students on their opinions of what a "good" production is. Granted he is trying to make us more critical evaluators but some of it just seems pompous on his behalf. Considering effort I put into research paper was very critical of my writing style.

Gerd knows everything and then some. (Note to 1st years: do not try to debate theatre/drama with this man as he will defeat you easily.) You know exactly what to expect from Gerd and what he expects from you.
