One of the best professors Ive had so far! Lectures provided were very clear, precise, and easy to understand. If you pay attention and take good notes on every single lecture it basically sets you up for success considering the quizzes are all based off of information provided.

An easy A. I learned about the founding of the US government and how it functions. BUT, he didn't connect what we were learning to current events and I think that was a huge missed opportunity. Also, the topics for the essay assignments were boring. He's a decent teacher. I was just hoping for something more engaging and inspiring.

Be prepared to write a lot while not saying much. Forget feedback. Yeah, you can use his classes to bump that GPA up, but don't be prepared to actually internalize and learn the material. He's also a terribly boring lecturer. Never says in one sentence what can be said in five. Also completely unreachable out of class. I sent him six emails. Nada.

Good content, but his communication is almost non-existent. I tried to email him because I needed clarification for essay #2; he never responds to emails. Take him if you want an easy A. He basically has no sympathy when it comes to due dates. His video lectures are so 2010 (images of Facebook and Twitter on one of the powerpoint vids)

I've taken 10+ classes, and this class was probably the easiest A. He's not politically biased, which helps those who have different views. Class consists of pre-recorded lectures, readings, a weekly discussion forum, 4 quizzes and 2 papers. The only complaint I have is that the lectures are outdated by about 10 years.

This class was great. Only complaint is the video lectures are in dire need of an update. Just do the work, read the readings and you'll be fine.

Lectures are almost 10 years old. Lectures are long and monotonous. I took the asynchronous class. It is very easy though

I took this class way back and forgot to post a review but Professor Freeman is AMAZING. My siblings took his course and said I need to take his class and Im happy I did. His lectures made me actually enjoy what was being taught, notes were clear, very flexible, always ready to help if needed. Has been the only teacher I liked in Berkeley.

I took this online political science class with Matthew Freeman knowing absolutely nothing about the topic. His class taught me a lot and his lectures were very helpful for the weekly quizzes. He doesn't grade too harshly but focus on the readings to get an idea of what to use in the paper. Highly recommend him!!

I originally signed up for this class a different college, but dropped it cuz a friend said Freeman was great. Freeman makes reading and talking about political theory surprisingly fun, interesting. Very applicable to todays issues & my other poli sci classes. It was a long class, but the time flew by. 3 Essays and a lot of class discussion.

This class is really boring and long. There are 3 papers based on books you will read at home and discuss in class. Freeman will explain basically what you read, so its important to go to class to understand the book.

If you skip class you will not pass. Tests are lecture based so missing classes means you will miss points on exams. Hes great teacher, but he spent like 2 weeks talking about the roles of media which I didnt find relevant. Plus none of the media stuff he lectured on was on the final.

I can't even describe how much I hated this class. The lectures were redundant but mandatory, it was a repeat of eighth grade history, zero feedback on any essay/project, he stated things that were flat out incorrect at several times, basically it was a drag. He told us we'd have frequent group discussions, but only gave us five minutes ONE TIME.

This class changed my world view and, as a result, I changed my Major. A lot of reading and all essays for assignments. The readings were difficult, but Freemans amazing lectures helps to make everything crystal clear and adds so much more. Freeman is the best Prof. Ive taken at BCC. Great class and is totally at totally worth it.

His online summer course that I am currently taking is killing me! If I took his class in person it might be a more enjoyable experience. If you take his online class pay attention to dates! he is VERY black and white when it comes to this, no exceptions or support as far as real life issues that may occur. He gives good lectures but isn't lenient

I loved taking polisci with him so much I considered changing my major into polisci. He's not super clear on his criteria or very accessible outside of class (don't try sending him emails) but he goes easy on the grading, he really wants all his students to do well and he just knows so much. Drop by his office hours if you're struggling.

I've taken Mr. Freeman in the past and i would highly recommend him. his passionate about what he teaches he really cares to motivate you. i decided to write a review because i learned something that many professors wont teach you and that's you can overcome any obstacle as long as you put your mind to it.
