He makes frequent jokes that help balance how much information he crams into lectures. Get ready to write A LOT. However, he does present information in a really easy way to understand. The one drawback is he doesn't put information on his slides so, really, go to class. A wonderful lecturer but talks really, really fast.

Professor Bartlett is passionate about his work and it clearly shows in his lectures, however, he's very old fashioned in his lecture style. You cannot rest for one moment whilst notetaking and make sure to read the textbook before class because you'll have absolutely no idea how to spell any of the Italian names and words he references.

Lectures on ppl who fought for their freedom, & on love for their Patria. In the same breath he insults politicians who uphold those very values now. He sounds like hes been reciting a script for too long, worn-out jokes included. Audio courses almost verbatim what you get in class. Light reading and assignments. He delivers what hes paid for.

incredibly knowledgable and passionate but oh my god DO NOT take this course unless you are equally passionate about European history otherwise you will quickly wish the continent never existed. lectures are packed and told in narrative format with no visual aids except for spellings. can't zone out for even a second or you may as well pack it in.

Overall, it was an okay class although I found him a tad self-obsessed and judgmental of anything he deemed lower than himself.

Professor Bartlett will NOT upload lecture notes and expects the students to follow along and take notes while he lectureshe talks fast and jumps from timelines, so it's really hard to follow along for 2 hrs. Readings are crazy heavy and you need to do them, and assignments require a lot of research. His teaching style is too old fashioned.

OKAY... tonight we're going to discuss a man who left a legacy at UofT, the likes of which have never been seen before, and that is, Kenneth Bartlett. Such is the language you can expect in a Bartlett lecture. Dotted with humorous cultural references, HIS109 is a course well worth taking. Just be ready to take notes at supersonic speed.

I took both VIC240 and VIC348 with him in Siena, Italy. I cannot say enough great things about this man. He is an inspiration not only in his field, but in life - one of those professors who IS what he does. He grades fair, gives good constructive criticism, and even better life advice. Take his class, and take advantage of his mentorship.

Had Prof. Bartlett for two classes this year (HIS327 is the other) and I can say he was by far my best prof. His passion for the subject is uncontainable and his lectures are very informative and interesting, albeit a little fast-paced. If you attend class and do the readings you should have no problem doing well. Would very highly recommend.

Great prof, lectures were always interesting and really important to do well in the course. It was more like listening to a well told story than to a lecture tbh. He looks a little like colonel sanders which was great too

This man is hilarious - by far the best prof I've had so far at UofT. He talks really fast during lectures so it might be difficult to follow at first, but you get used to it over time. Really get prof, the lectures are very interesting and entertaining - highly recommend him!

He taught one module of VIC225, and it was fantastic. His lectures were funny, highly informative, and he gave the class a lot of freedom when it came to writing the final assignment for that module. He was very easy to talk to, very informative, and just an all around nice guy.

Prof. Bartlett is amazing!! His lectures are great, but be prepared for how quickly he speaks! Despite how fast he talks, he knows how to speak to a large number of students and he definitely keeps you interested. The course itself is a bit difficult in content, but he is very approachable and willing to answer questions and help. Great guy!

Speaks too fast during lectures, always arrives late and leaves early, points are always too longwinded, not clear and concise. If you need feedback or need help with your assignments he is of little to no assistance. critical thinking and independent thought are penalized not rewarded. epitome of outdated approach to teaching. recommend avoiding.
