Amazing lectures, great personality, obviously interested in the topic. So sad to see him retiring, but glad I got into his class while I could!

for world religions, if you write down every word he says and just study from that you can do really well on the tests. he had interesting things to say as he's lived in different countries but he can be a bit inconsiderate to other view points (though he's the first to admit it-he tells you he'll probably piss everyone off right at the beginning)

Guy knows his stuff, can't teach it clearly, forgets what he lectured on, tests very difficult, some questions never covered in text or lecture. He's very critical in person and on paper, not sure he should be teaching anymore, doesn't seem interested in students learning subject matter, more interested in tripping them up and making them feel badl

I do not like driesbach personally. He so failed in teaching Existentialism, that I felt him unqualified to instruct. We did not discuss Karl Jasper or Martin Hieddegger, and spent only 3-days on Jean Paul Sartre. That is the entire Existential movement. We simply did not study existentialism. Furthermore, he considers disagreement ignorance.

I must be missing this great experience. Lecturing the whole time, I struggled to stay awake, along with others, and even forming a study group I'm not sure that helped much. I was inspired to take this class by taking U.S. religion at another school, hmm.

Blech. Humanities. BORING subject matter, completely irrelevent to anything but philosophy majors. Dreisbach has a dry sense of humor, which is the only thing that makes these classes bearable. Papers were graded a little harshly. Exams are fair, even easy if you attend lecture. He's kind of all over the place, so try to take good notes.

Oh My God! Seriously the only thing I learned in this class was that if you want to be a philosopher just come up with a coky idea about rather your body is actually real or your brain is playing tricks on you and disagree with Decarte. I remember mcutting out paper hollies and knitting in this class. Very Boring! Grades papers strictly. Oh an

Amazing teacher! Insightful about the history of logical thought, as well as brilliant when it comes to details and application. He's also witty and sarcastic, which keeps the otherwise dreadfully boring material interesting.

I think that he was funny and the class was very informative. The class is very history oriented. Attending lectures is absolutely important. He tends to jump around a bit in lecture, but he's mostly comprehensible. Good class. Good professor.

Taking notes was a nightmare. All over the place with little direction. The 100 level is like a 300 level and you have to be a mind reader to follow him. Deisbach with an emphasis on "dry"

Dreisbach is a great prof; easygoing but stimulating, he has a lot to offer. He's very reasonable, but holds students to college-level standards (as more profs probably should). As For the class: there is focus on Abrahamic traditions and attending lecture is essential if you want to pass the tests.

Awful. He is a jerk and u need to know every literally obscure fact in his head. "it is not my fault that u guys read at a 8th grade reading level" is one of his favorite lines when you ask for help. Outlining the chapter offere me no help, which in any other class would alone ensure my success.

He's a good teacher, interesting to watch. My only complaint would be that he doesn't lecture, just does practice problems. I can understand that that's a good way to learn the process of logic, but I could have used more introductory info on the rules we were learning.

Right or wrong, he provokes thought. If you want a high gpa, he's not the best prof. If you want to expand your mind, he's great. But don't attach yourself to everything he says. Contemplate an idea, and then use your own judgment.

Worst Class Ever...2 hour lecture, professors just talk the whole time, barely any class interaction. Grade Papers really hard, although multiple choice tests are ridiculously simple. Very set in opinions, don't try to suggest any other ways things could happen, you'll be shot down

He's excited to share his knowledge, the downside is that his knowledge consists of bad jokes and bad books which makes staying awake very difficult. Do the readings and pay attention and all will be well. Just Don't try to argue, because he's always right.

****ing awesome professor! Knows what he's talking about and makes it simple to understand. His questions on the tests are easy as long as you did a bit of the reading and remained moderately awake in class. But watch out on his grading of papers -- he's a bit stingy there!

Dreisbach rocks! He's not as hard a people make him out to be, he'll help you if you make an effort to help yourself and he is always willing to go over a subject again as long as you can show him you actually listened a little the first time. Friendly, funny, and has a nice curve. Best teacher ever

Comment:
Don't take this class with him! He assumes you know everything already. His tests are written the night before (he even admitted it), and they are done in a very obscure, and random way! He belittles the students, "Well, if you can't pick it out of a book at a 10th grade reading level..." Screw him!
