Professor grades extremely tough and is not very understanding at all. She also expects you to read an entire book in a week. If you are looking to take an English class take it with literally anyone else. Worst professor I've ever had at Marist.

Her online class is very simple. Make sure you read the assigned material and don't be afraid to have your own opinion. Make sure you participate in the forms and there is only one test the final exam. You will be writing a lot int the forms.

Professor Neilson is hilarious and her class is really fun and engaging, however she can be very unspecific when it comes to what she requires for her papers. She will show examples of what she doesn't want but never of what she does want. This is infuriating as its really hard to improve from one paper to the next. You won't get an A.

Prof. Neilson is an amazing professor, I enjoyed her class so much. You get three essays and lots of short quick paragraphs to write for homework but not hard. She makes the class very interesting, and its my favorite course. She is a tough grader but if you work hard and go for help she takes that into consideration. Class is not boring at all!

She is a very nice lady, but she is an extremely tough grader. For her FYS classes, every paper she assigned would be really long and insanely difficult to get a high grade on it. I think it is impossible to get an A on her papers. Besides that, she makes the course pretty interesting, keeps her students engaged, and is there to help when needed.

Prof. Neilson is a very nice person and she is a good teacher as well. However, her grading is very harsh and rarely ever gives A's. If she disagrees with an opinion of yours in an essay, she will take points off so beware. I never got above an 80 on any of her papers, and I took AP english in high school and have an A in my current college english

Professor Neilson really takes an interest in the subject she's teaching and gets really enthusiastic during her lectures. She tries to include the whole class in discussions and can be funny at times. She has lots of different teaching strategies and always conducts class in a different way so it's rarely boring!

If you have a chance to take Prof. Neilson for FYS, you should. Her Murder, Madness, and Mental Mayhem class is really interesting, and the work in't bad as long as you keep up with the reading. Overall, I really enjoyed this class. (No tests, just a couple shorter 4-page essays and a research paper on a topic of your choice)

Professor Neilson is the absolute best! I had her for the First Year Seminar Baseball class. She's always happy and very passionate and knowledgable about the topics. Weekly two-page papers are easy and interesting. Few readings and some quizzes, no tests. Makes class very enjoyable and lets you out early sometimes. Take her!

She is, by far, one of my favorite teachers here at Marist. She's super nice and likes class discussions. She is always willing to help you and grades fairly. The work load is moderate, so just go to class and do whatever assignments that she gives you and you should be fine.

Had her for my FYS that was Baseball in American Society and loved her! She had high energy every class and was extremely friendly. You could tell she loved the topic and was very good at explaining certain topics to the class. She offered multiple opportunities for extra credit. She would not waste your time, instead she lets you out early.

She's great for College Writing 1. She's nice, quirky, and very helpful. Go to her office and have her read over your essays, she'll give good advice. Keep up with the work in between classes, they're interesting too. She grades harshly on papers but not unreasonably unfair, she'll give you what you deserve. She's a great teacher, definitely take!
