Viator is likely the toughest professor and most brilliant professor you'll ever have. He loves courage and preparedness so don't shy away from him. AND FOR YOUR OWN SAKE, DO. THE. READINGS. Please know the facts well and which part of the law is related to the facts that are mentioned. Do this, and participate. You should be just fine.

Fantastic teacher - I've taken him three times and will take him again if an opportunity opens up. I don't know why people are complaining about the reading (it's average).

Viator is absolutely brilliant. Yes, he will be rude. Yes, if you're easily offended - you will spend ALL of your time being offended. I can promise you this, if he's never given you grief in class - he doesn't like you or know you. Prepare for class, participate, don't fear criticism. You will miss him once you move on to other professors.

Viator is tough and if you aren't absolutely certain you're in class on time just don't show up. As far as his attitude, if you serve back a little sarcastic joke or something, he will loosen up and appreciate it. Actually deeply cares about his students.

Viator is rude, but I respect him deeply. He is brilliant and well-read, which means you don't know as much as him and better not waste his time with silly questions. His test was super easy (60 MC 1 400 word essay), and he wrote the book ($$). He can be harsh, but overall material is fun and he knows his stuff. Reading is heavy but interesting.

Comment:
He's every bit as obnoxious as people say he is, but class is usually pretty entertaining. But as far as class goes, almost none of what he said ended up being relevant on the final exam. Doesn't give specified pages to read, rather says to stay "30 pages ahead," and often covers material past that 30 page range. Funny guy, but take someone else.

Comment:
Final exam covered things we never discussed in class nor were supposed to read on our own. A nice-enough guy, and pretty approachable, but the help that he gave didn't really help towards the final exam. Class consisted of long ramblings over the definition of individual words in the Civil Code and the basis of the justice system.

He's not as bad as everyone says he is. He's tough if you don't read, but if you don't read you probably should not be in law school anyways. I learned more in his class than any other class. The parts of the lecture he repeats and makes important is exactly what he will test you on.

Excellent teacher. You will learn to think and analyze. No one else in the school compares when it comes to teaching these essential skills. He can change your life if you pay attention.

Viator is harsh. The very first day he kicked a guy out of class for being less than a minute late. He walks in and calls a name on the first day too to start asking questions. He is very approachable outside of class but in class, don't bother. DO NOT GO TO CLASS UNPREPARED WITHOUT GIVING A PASS SLIP. HE WILL CRUCIFY YOU. Pure socratic.

Great professor! He doesn't play around in class, so make SURE you're prepared, or just don't bother coming at all. Basically if you come to class, every class, prepared, you'll do fine!

Don't be late, turn off your phone, raise you hand, pay attention, don't vacillate when called upon, and be prepared. Do that, and you'll be fine. Might be the funniest teacher I've ever had.

Has a reason for doing everything. Will call you out and make fun of you, but read the cases and the notes and the code articles and you'll be fine. If you are uppity or a complainer or easily offended, don't take him. If you enjoy a challenge, have a good sense of humor, he's great. Ask questions after class, he has endless patience.

Prof. Viator is probably one of the hardest professors at Loyola. His in-class personality is not for the faint of heart. However, outside of class, he is the nicest guy in the world and he will help you. Be prepared to study your butt off in his Torts classes.

The guy is brutal and forces you to think. Clearly, most of the naysayers were not too into preperation and thinking on their feet. Good luck in the real world. Thanks Professor Viator - you cucaracho

Comment:
This guy is arrogant but is a good professor. He is hard, but that is because he takes the law seriously and expects his students to do the same. If you are prepared for class, you will be fine. He is not that hard on grading. His tests are much easier than you would expect them to be. I will be taking his classes again.
