I never felt the same after learning that Prof. Miller is no longer with us. His teaching style was tremendously flavorful and informative. I really respected him as a mentor. He will be missed.

I am an urban planner only because of Roger. He used unique teaching methods, such as his City in Film class, to capture and expand the minds of his students, he was also our urban studies guide in Sweden. The loss of Roger is heartbreaking and he leaves a void which will not be filled easily.

Totally awesome guy. Knows literally everything about everything ever. The class is a film class, so there was obviously a lot of movie watching, and the movies weren't that interesting, but the lectures beforehand were pretty solid. Quiz grading is fair, there's no final, and the papers aren't that hard. Good class.

Very little prior interest in GEOG, took class as a REQ, but Prof Miller is the bomb! Wears electric shirts w/ anime scenes--some highly inappropriate--drives a motorcycle, THOROUGHLY knows his stuff, and cares about his students. 2 midterms and a 12-pg paper (get an early start on paper!). Prof Miller always makes class interesting--MUST-TAKE!

Prof. Miller is great! He's easy going and loves to talk about movies. This was an interesting class because it focused on films relation to physical and fictional space. There was a bit of a disconnect between some of the readings and the papers that needed to be written, but overall I enjoyed this class.

Well versed, actual experience visiting/living in many of world cities studied. Power Point based, high quality visuals, good lecturer. More work than I expected but worth it. Group project mandatory, hope you get a good team, I did more than my share of work. Test questions available ahead, some questions not covered in class. You'll learn a lot

Roger is a cool guy, blah blah blah. That is true, but his class is boring, his TAs are tough graders on exams, and the guidelines for the group project are extremely vague. The existence of a group project (with 7 other people!) should be enough reason to avoid this class!

Lecture style isn't the most interesting; sometimes hard to keep up with and understand what he's really getting at. Exams are tough, "critical analysis" type but he allows a page of notes. Extremely knowledgeable, well-spoken, nice, all-around cool guy.

One of the most boring classes i've ever taken. Never knew when things were due. Lectures were nearly unrelated to test questions. Definatly wouldnt take any of his classes again

Awesome professor and class. Interesting lectures, but not mandatory. This class is pretty easy; you get test questions ahead of time and can use a sheet of notes on the test. Never used the book

GREAT prof! Interesting, nice, & smart guy! Learned A LOT! Only downside - he doesn't use WebCT & he only uses PPT to post pictures, not notes. So if you miss class, U miss a lot. But I missed at least 6 or 7 and just Googled the missed info before exams and I did just fine. I rarely used the books, too... Take the class!

Ridiculously knowledgeable, interesting lectures, and just a really awesome guy... plus an interesting fashion sense. Likes to recommend restaurants and films before lecture begins. Pay attention in lecture and keep up with your readings and you'll do really well in this class.

Comment:
If you take any other classes by Miller, especially Changing Form of the City, don't take Perspectives. I did and I was bored out of my mind because they were pretty much the same course with different titles. There were days when it was slide-for-slide the same stuff. Take Changing Form instead, we had to do a ton less reading in that class!
