He's a nice and incredibly intelligent man. The problem is, he's sometimes mumbling and rambling for the whole class. He means well, but his abundance of knowledge gets the best of him. He goes off on tangents for each problem, and has a hard time putting what he means into words. Always happy to answer questions thoroughly though. Overall okay.

Wouldn't recommend taking this solely as a supplemental writing class because there is a lot of math and work. As for math majors, he is a good math 210 especially when he uses the "flipped classroom" method, one section per class is easy to cover and you do in class problems. Kinda funny guy, GO TO OFFICE HOURS for portfolio problems.

He's a nice guy and really means well, but he is an awful professor. He doesn't explain the material well at all and just tells you what it should be, instead of teaching you. I found myself having to go through the book and teaching myself what we were learning. He's always happy to answer questions though.

Good professor, he was very helpful if you asked him. Sometimes he explained things that didn't make sense, but was always willing to clarify if anyone asked. Fairly easy grader and humorous at times. I would defiantly take one of his classes again if I had the choice.

Terrible prof, does not explain things well and expects us to understand everything and work ahead and still somehow understand everything. Not a fan of him. Very boring to listen to, as well. This is an SWS class but there is way too many little assignments due at each class. Hard to keep tack of everything that is due...

This was a great class to start off with, an easy way to get a gen ed out of the way. Great teacher, very easy. Only four real assignments, every quiz was take-home. Final exam was take-home. I definitely recommend for an easy math credit. He will help you a lot if you need it, but if you don't ask he won't explain very much. Just ask questions!

Was a very good teacher, explained things in a very broken down matter. I had him in the summer and 2 hour classes in the morning where killer. It seemed like he was a good teacher, but some times it just got so boring that I could no longer pay attention. He was willing to help you a lot even on the take home exam, during offfice hours

A lot of writing for a math class. It is SWS, but remember, you not only have to do the portfolio problems, but the exams are difficult as well. Just stay on top of everything or you will be screwed.

Fairly rough grader on portfolio problems. He wrote the book so that probably didn't help any of the students. He's a smart guy, but it's hard to relate to him. He's better in office hours though.

Seems to be quite knowledgeable and a pretty nice guy, but a terrible teacher. He does not know how to explain things well. There were very few notes to take in the class because he passed out tons of packets of notes (and then doesnt use them. He uses maple all the time instead of showing how to do problems by hand. Mumbles a lot as well. Avoid!

He is a terrible teacher. He didn't even do an example problem until the last month of class. He "teaches" one thing and then the tests and exam are written as if from a completely diffrent class. He never covers any examples of anything that is on the tests and the book is useless because the problems in it are not like the test problems either.

Definately not the best professor I've ever had. He wrote the book - which tells a lot. He understands everything he wrote, but students did not. During office hours tends to be much more helpful. The material in this class was not easy by any means & he didn't help things any. Whether you like him or not depends on what style of teaching you like.

Take him as a last resort. He wrote the book if that tells you anything. His lectures are boring and the homework load is sometimes crazy. The guy could make a paper mill a fortune with all the homework and handouts. Only the gifted math majors should take him. He does tend to have favorites.

Very laid back, and really a lot of fun. His tests are hard, but he gives lots of other easy points to average them out. You must do the homework. I really like him as a teacher and as a person. Maple is his friend and mine too now!

Calc 3 isn't easy, but Sundstrom makes it understandable. Very lax expectations, however can be very boring. Don't take in the morning, but take for this class. Uses Maple way too much.
