This class was basically a stepping stone for freshman English majors which was very helpful. There was only three assignments and they were all helpful outside of the classroom setting. Lots of guest speakers who were helpful for all different career fields. Professor Newton is the reason I even am and English major and encouraged me to do more.

An amazing professor and mentor. He is everything anyone would want in a professor. He pushes his students for their best, yet is very understanding. Feedback is the perfect blend of constructive criticism. If he does have favored students it really does not affect those he does not know as well which is rare in the english department. Take Him!

Dr. Newton does a great job at seeing talent in his students' writing. He sticks to the textbook a lot, which I thought was odd in a creative writing class. But overall he's a great professor for this class.

He really pushes students to be better, but not in a "do this or I won't give you an A" way. I could listen to him talk for hours on end, he's so well-spoken and fascinating. Even though I didn't end up taking a creative writing minor, his intro class really changed how I view writing and literature.

The creative writing class ended up being one of my favorite classes I have ever taken at Bradley. Newton actually cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He MAY be seen as opinionated but I think what he says is always valid. Loved loved loved. Would recommend this course.

Good professor overall. Mostly wants students to think for themselves and so the majority of the class is group work and class discussion. The final is a paper on a topic that you choose with his approval. He is really willing to work with you and help you out. Good professor who helps, gets to know, and cares about his students.

He is a great teacher but he will grade your papers subjectively. If he does not agree with your argument, your grade will suffer.

attendance works as extra credit. extremely helpful, always available. strict to the syllabus, but tries to help everybody. you have to put in effort on the essays as those are your basic grades. he'll help a lot, and you can get an A if you don't slack off. I did for the last paper, and i barely missed the A. Great motivator, great class. take him
