Comment:
I found it very difficult to follow explanations from the instructor. I was able to get by during the first two units based on knowledge I had gained from my AP Physics class in high school. Unclear explanations and mistakes in problems by Professor Gibbons left the class reserved and nervous about answering questions. The book was not helpful.

I sympathize with Professor Gibbons, but he is a little too old to teach. He is really not clear, sometimes he can't even understand our questions. The course is easy enough so it wasn't a total disaster. But for anyone without prior physics knowledge I suggest you find another section for 197 ASAP, because u will be stuck with him for 198 as well.

Good teacher, friendly and available. Class is both easy and interesting. Does not take attendance. I don't see why everyone finds his class so boring, I had fun.

Solar System Astronomy: worst class ever with him. it is a 100 person class but only 15 people show up (im sadly one of them) because he's so boring. Also, it is supposed to be an easy math course but it turns into intermediate physics quite quickly. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS

physics 117 is just plain hard, and many non-physics people take it. don't let those ratings change your opinion he's a great teacher, knows a ton about electronics, and he smells funny
