Excellent teacher, very underrated. Really nice guy, seemed a bit standoff ish once when I saw him in the hall, but going to his office he is really helpful. Final exam was very fair, but you gotta know the whole course and especially the stuff he teaches in the second half of the course.

Decent professor. The one test we did was very easy, especially if you did the problem sets. The final, on the other hand, was quite difficult compared to the problems sets and the examples done in class. To do well in his course, do every question in the problem sets (several times, if necessary). You don't learn circuits by watching others do it!

I found his tests were very easy if you did the problem sets, BUT the final exam was much harder then any examples he gave in the class, and I knew the material very well. Study HARD for the final to get a good grade.

Every thing for grading is clear from the first session. Assignments are so heavy, you will need to work hard to pass this course. It's mostly cryptography basics and concepts. Exams and projects were heavy. Final exam was more fair in comparison to the midterm.

Test are much harder then the basic examples in class, does not give solutions to problem sets, does not post marks online and attendance is mandatory to pass due to in class questions. Overall you have to do a lot of work to pass this course.

His notes aren't posted online. He is a tough grader, but gives multiple problem sets with lots of examples to help prepare for the exams. He expects you to work hard at this course and if you do you'll be okay!

Comment:
1040 is a really tough course to grasp but Dr. Heys did a solid job of clearly explaining the concepts and posted many extra problems that consisted of questions exactly like those on the midterms but they often got neglected because they weren't graded for marks. Attendance is important to fill in the notes because they will not be posted online.

Brutally hard prof. Took his course in Engi one and failed. Took it again in the summer with an amazing prof and came out with an 86. The problem sets are no help for the exams (which were always brutal). Circuits is not a hard course but he makes it near impossible to do well

Circuits shouldn't be too hard of a concept to grasp, but Howard does his best to make it hell. He recommends doing Problem Sets to prepare for the exam, and the exam is 100x harder than them. In addition, he flies through complex notes while elaborating on easy concepts. HARD GRADER, with very picky nuances when it comes to your solutions.

Horrendous. Least helpful professor I have had an experence with. Attending office hours did not help, he pointed out that I was doing some of the questions wrong (that's why I'm here asking for help). Very quiet and monotonous. Examples in class are far more simple than tests. If you want to teach yourself the course, this is the prof for you

Very arrogant. He gives tests that only an electrical major would know how to do, not first-year students. When asked for help, he treats the student as if they're stupid. Avoid at all costs.

Horrible prof. I asked him questions in his office a few days before a test and he made me feel stupid, gave blank looks, the works. Straight up told the class that we were the worst he's ever taught, although I fail to see how it's the fault of a few hundred students as opposed to him when the median grade was 0%.

Absolutely terrible. If you ever ask him a question, he stares at you kind of like a ten year old boy seeing a naked woman for the first time, and then neglects the question.

A very hard professor. But extremely knowledgeable. Never miss his classes. His assignments will be brutal but in the end you will learn a lot. I asked him questions almost every day. He is very easy to approach. And every one should do that, go to his office and meet him. If possible a little flattery works.

He speaks very low and quiet. He does examples in class, but spends most of the time on calculations or teaching us how to solve a system of equations four different ways, instead of explaining the material we were unfamiliar with. When I approached him one on one he was very unhelpful. He doesn't post solutions to problem sets, just answers.

Speaks very low and quiet. Answers to problem sets are very unclear and midterms and final were both extremely difficult. Overall had a negative energy about him and I do not recommend him to anyone in the future.
