Comment:
Dr. Hula makes his expectations clear on the first day of class. If you put in the work and the effort, you will succeed. Participation matters a lot so talk! He is very picky on the essays that accompany the unit tests, but seemed more lenient on our paper. The supplemental texts make the class very interesting, but the textbook is boring.

Dr. Hula was one of my favorite professors last semester. He adapted his course very well to being online. His expectations of you are very clear, and he wants his students to succeed. If you go to office hours, he will do his very best to help you, especially for papers. I really hope to take another class with him cause he was so great.

AMAZING MAN. One of the hardest classes I've taken at Loyola, but I learned the most during this class. Hula is SO caring and loves what he does. The class is hard but if you pay attention and do the readings you'll be fine. Also, go to his office hours before tests, he will really help you out.

Took him for 102 and again for this course. Course is one of the toughest that Loyola has to offer. Overall, I did ok however, it is very obvious if he likes you or not. Class was thoroughly interesting but the material can be tough to get through at times. As long as you read (thoroughly) and participate, you will do well.

This is my third class with Hula, and I plan on taking him again. The materials are not easy, but doing well is attainable - he's so clear about what he wants from you on tests/papers/quizzes & gives you lots of chances to bring your grade up. His passion for political science makes the work really, really worth it. Can't say enough good things.

He's a really nice guy and helps a lot if you go to office hours. There are 10 quizzes and one is dropped, but you do have to do the reading. I'm really glad I took his course. I transferred to another school but I really miss Hula.

Amazing teacher w/ extensive politics knowledge. He's a very hard professor though. Weekly quizzes have 7-8 questions so if you get 1-2 wrong, your screwed. Tough/tricky exams, all multi. choice w/ one very hard/in depth exam. Assigns reading and work as if you don't have other classes or a life. He teaches the 102 course as if it were a 400 lvl.

Dr. Hula is awesome! The class is very interesting and if you don't like politics, you will after this class. Yes, it is a ton of work and a lot of reading, but you can easily get an A if you keep up with the readings.

I've taken him for EC102 and two 300-level classes so far, and he structures all of his classes the same. He simply expects you to do all of the reading, know everything from lectures, and tests you on just that. He may come off arrogant sometimes, but he's a genuinely nice person who wants you to succeed.

He is a great teacher all around. He is a very fair grader, not easy. He assigns extensive reading however the readings are very interesting and always pertain to class discussions. Don't expect to do nothing in his class and do well but if you are interested in political science, he is the way to go!!

When he tells you it will be a hard class with a lot of reading - take him seriously! Hula is a great guy, funny, and really helpful...but the class is super hard. Be prepared to read a TON every night and be ready to discuss in class for a participation grade. Don't take this if you want an easy A - you'll work hard in this class.

Professor Hula is the best teacher I'v had so far at Loyola. He made class extremely interesting and entertaining with a lot of jokes about Kansas. He is a fair grader and strictly follows the syllabus he gives out. Tests are a little difficult but by studying lecture notes and answering study questions, good grades are inevitable.

A very fair professor- his grading and workload were equally fair. He's just a boring lecturer; for a politics class there is little to no class discussion. Disappointing.

The best in-class teacher I've ever had. Class was interesting, fast-paced and entertaining 100% of the time. Tests were hard and he was a little pretentious outside of class but definitely worth it. Taking him again next semester.

He's really nice and fair. He's an expert in interest groups and that's the course. He's my favorite professor definitely take him if you can.
