Great first programming course. She knows her stuff. Ask questions, go to office hours and do the labs you'll be fine. Practice practice and practice your coding.

Took her class online. She did provide a lot of notes and power points which was incredibly helpful especially when doing the projects. She's definitely very knowledgable. The only complaint I have is her grading style. She takes a lot of points off for minor mistakes. She grades projects harshly.

Comment:
While the coursework is fairly unchallenging, Ms. Fanzone assigns projects/homework without a grading rubric, leaving students open to misinterpret assignment instructions. Grading of assignments seems arbitrary, points deducted seem plucked out of the sky, and quite excessive given the triviality of some of the mistakes made. Read book for easy A.

I took the 5 week summer c++ programming class online. Ms. Fanzone class was strict but well structured. Every project was posted at the start of the course. A clear syllabus and schedule was provided. Follow all criteria carefully and be sure to contact her if you have questions. I appreciated this class. I meant to type this review long ago.

Do not take her class! She is so rude to students. Yeah she tells you what you need but even if you read and work your butt off you still will have a very tough time to learn the material. I heard her tell a student that their code was crap. She will also belittle you if you don't understand something. I don't have time to go to tutoring.

Prof. Fanzone was very helpful, but you have to be sure you contact her if you need help. She made learning java pretty easy, and by the end of the class you feel pretty confident in the basics of the language and logic. The class was by no means easy, but if you attend and complete all of the labs correctly you can piece together things easily

I had never taken a programming class before this. Prof Fanzone is very helpful and explains things in a very clear manner. Her quizzes are easy and as long as you take the practice quizzes beforehand you will ace that section. Her projects are very clear although she likes coding done "her" way. Would definitely recommend taking her for this class

Loved this class, had no prior experience with java now I'm writing programs like its nothing. Practice tests show exactly what you need to know for the real tests, professor Fanzone is always eager to help/very organized and clear, responds quickly to emails and almost always has time to look over your code and help with projects and questions.

Normally I don't like online classes, but Penny Fanzone made it almost as good as an in-person class. She had work posted way out in advance, so that you could work ahead if you wanted to. She gave great feedback on all assignments, and always responded quickly to questions and concerns. The work was challenging, but not dishearteningly so.

She treats everyone as if they already know programming. It is Intro to Programming, I don't think she understands what the word "Intro" means. I do have to give her credit for the quizzes & tests because one was able to study the same questions online, however the way she explained things were not clear.

She's one of the best programming professors. [C++ programming] She's very helpful when it comes to emailing you back. She does give extra credit & the book helps a lot too. Quizzes are just like the tests / final exam. Online class was a great; I went on my own pace. If you need help, DON'T HESITATE to ask her. better to ask sooner than later.

Prof Fanzone is a great instructor. The complainers just don't want to work and expect the class to be like high school.
