Definitely one of my favourite Professors. Fair marker, and also provides lots of instruction and example essays he wrote himself. Very approachable and helpful during office hours. To do well in his class, these are the rules to live by: CAREFULLY read all of the instructions and the example essays! Can't wait to take another class with him!

He may seem crass and unforgiving but in reality he just knows what he wants and tells you exactly what this is. He may be unforgiving and harsh once the paper is submitted but before that he is one of the most caring professors I've had, he will give you solid and incredibly helpful advice on your paper and wants his students to succeed.

Prof. macisaac is one of the best i've ever had. his lectures are insightful and engaging and really clear up the difficult course material. he is sarcastic, and that might perturb some, but really he is kind, cares a lot about his students, and works to make sure you understand the lecture and assignments VERY clearly -- all you have to do is ask

Doesn't have much of a sympathetic side, but is fair in marking and if you do what is expected of you he won't be unreasonable.

His lectures are amazing and thought provoking. He is a tough marker but he is clear about his expectations and grading criteria. My writing has improved drastically with the help of his class. He is available after class during his office hours. He will legitimately answer all your questions and help with the upcoming assignment!

Grading is based on how entertained he is, standards are not explained. your only goal is to appease this impossible marker and incredibly rude professor.

If you are a willing recipient, DGM will lead you to the Good. Never has there been a professor so devoted to imparting knowledge to and enriching the lives of his students. Anyone who thinks he is arrogant is, frankly, hypersensitive and fragile in mind and spirit - straight out of highschool.

Comment:
Extremely disappointing. He often showed up to class without having looked at the assigned section in "about a year". Told us that we were going to "write the end of his book" for him. Gave no comments on anyone's 30pg essay that was 100% of the mark. Took 3 months to get any feedback. Absolutely disgraceful for a 4th-year seminar/any HUMS course.

I started out the year with the impression that he was about as humble as Gilderoy Lockhart, w/ the same amount of vanity. Time went on & I got accustomed to his teaching style & personality. He comes off as cocky, but deep down he cares about the success of his students & is willing to help. Bottom line? I'm still torn, but I think he means well.

He is a very enthusiastic and lively professor. His personality is humble yet scholarly and he's very helpful if you seek his aid. You must be proactive with regards to the readings; however, the subject matter is very engaging. You must be prepared to: think in withstand constructive criticism. If you put in the effort, it will pay off.

Though he's a hard marker, his comments are usually justified, and can be helpful. He is getting better at his voice comments, as he's reeling in his sarcasm.

Comment:
He has a large ego, an ugly attitude, and is hypocritical in his writings. He tends to lead students on that they're doing a good job but then gives an undeserving grade. His assignments are synonymous with his writing guide, but there is no stylistic leniency - it's his way or the high way. Voice comments can be helpful, but emotionally stressful.

Great prof. He puts hours into ensuring that each student KNOWS precisely where they failed to meet his expectations and will work with you individually to clarify further. Values improvement over anything, and he marks hard, but FAIR. He should get his ego in check though... and the iPad needs to go.

The reason I'm enjoying Humanities so far is this professor. I would not have grasped the concepts otherwise. Very clear and great 1 on 1 explanations. Tough? yes- but for a reason. Full of himself? he has a reason to be. You want a professor worth your tuition? Deal with it.

Not so hot in terms of personality. It is hard to go through a class entitled Humanities and listen to someone so arrogant. He is definitely brilliant in philosophy, but his personality is really hard to bear.

Brilliant, but unfortunately aware of it. His superiority complex can be extremely annoying at times, but still has a lot to offer as a prof. Needs to put the ipad away...
