If you attend lecture you will pass class. Make sure you take down notes of all of his examples because those usually show up on the quizzes and make sure you study the quizzes because those end up on the tests. He has a very sarcastic personality and is very blunt which is why I found him very funny and loved going to class!

I really enjoyed Professor Dunn. He was super supportive of his students and helped me a lot with projects when I had questions. Even met with me so I could get clarity for my forest paper and how to write it correctly. I learned a lot from this class, and he is a lot of fun and laid back. Get to go outside a bunch too!

He was very disorganized, but he posted study guides for the exams that basically spelled out most of the questions. His lectures were interesting, and he had lots of personal stories that helped make concepts easy to remember. This is why I would say it's a "show up & pass" class; if you paid attention during lecture, most of the info would stick.

He is an incredibly tough grader. Very unorganized. Confusing to follow in class. Doesn't really give you any help.

Weekly quizzes which made what to expect on exams pretty clear. Focused on case studies and examples which made it way easier too learn. Dunn really knows his stuff and is a great teacher.

Jim Dunn is a cool professor. The first few days he comes across as extremely liberal (and he is... but he's teaching an environmental science course so that's probably a given). He gives extra credit for showing up to class. His tests aren't easy, but not really hard. There's a project that requires some work. All in all, a solid class.

I had Dunn for a Monday Wednesday Friday lecture for 50 minutes. Lectures cover broad topics but dunn doesnt specifically make clear what he wants for his quizzes. WHICH ARE WEEKLY. This is probably the most annoying part of the class, you never know what to expect on these. Some are super general, but others are way too specific.

I had Dr. Dunn for lecture. He is a bit full of himself and thinks he's super funny, but you get used to it. He offers a ton of curves on his exams and quizzes (which are weekly). Exams are multiple choice and short answer, and 80% of the questions are from old quizzes and exams. Would definitely recommend and would take again.

Definitely the best professor I've had so far at GV. Attendance is not required, but go to lecture. I wish I had attended lecture more often because Jim makes it so easy for you to succeed if you do. Important material is made clear in lecture. Exams are basically half old quiz questions. He offers more than enough extra credit. And he's funny!

He's a great prof! Sometimes he can be quite conceited and a bit full of himself but honestly it doesn't affect his teaching. His lectures are very informative and interesting, uses a lot of current problems in ecology to keep everyone interested. Also took him for lab and he is usually a pretty fair grader. I would definitely take him again!

I recommend taking a different prof. Dunn expects you to read his mind when it comes to his short answer questions, and his multiple choice are very poorly written and confusing. His lectures do not follow a structure and induce slumber. He's passionate about it and cares about us, but he's arrogant, like he needs to prove something to himself.

Took for Ecology as a summer class and he was awesome! Labs are tedious and spent outside where the bugs were bad, but he was so helpful for all assignments and the tests were often half made up of old quiz questions! He offered a TON of extra credit, but I think it just might be during the summer. For the papers, go and see him at his office!

Prof. Dunn is the best professor I have had at GV. He is easy to understand and makes it very clear what he wants you to know. Highly recommend him, especially for his insect classes. Once again, best professor I've had out of the three years I've been here.

Dunn is definitely a cool professor! I had him for general ecology, which is in truth, kind of boring. However, his lectures were really entertaining and he provided really good examples for all of the concepts. He made a lot of jokes, too! I definitely recommend him as a professor.

This professor is a very arrogant man. I will admit that he does have a lot of knowledge about this stuff and is passionate about it, he expects that we know everything perfectly like he does. He appears to be annoyed by questions. He is extremely hard. This is only a 3 credit class with the work load of a grad school class. IMPOSSIBLE!

Professor Dunn is a great professor! He keeps lecture interesting and funny, and is willing to help students on their projects. The lab papers are a lot of work, but they're interesting and Professor Dunn is willing to help clarify any concepts that aren't understood. I definitely recommend this professor!!

I actually loved this class. His exams were pretty easy if you listened to him. He tells exactly what will be on the exams. He repeats himself so we know what he will test on. Very funny prof also. He made the class fun in my opinion.

One of the worst teachers that I have had at GV. His lectures are extremely unorganized and he repeats himself a lot. He is very arrogant and disrespectful to students. He doesn't like questions and expects you to figure it out on your own. However, if you work hard you can get an A in the class. Do not take him for Lab! He is super hard grader.

Could be a great guy outside of class, but as a professor he can be very arrogant. Constantly acknowledges it's a sophomore level class, yet expects senior level answers. Think there is no such thing as a 'dumb' question? There is to him and he will call you out on it in front of the whole class. Switch professors if you can!
