Gary is one of the best professors I've ever had at Ferris. He's a sweet old man who really cares about what he teaches and the wellbeing of his students. He wasn't online before COVID but went above and beyond to do everything in his power to make it easier for the students. I wish I needed another history class just so I could have him again!

Huey really knows his stuff. His lectures are entertaining and really go in depth. For 309, the only thing you need to focus on is the 2500 word essay that is due at the end about a topic from the time period. His test was open note and open book. The final exam was an essay where he gave you the questions ahead of time. He doesn't take attendance.

Took sports history online. It was all discussions and quizzes. Discussions were supposed to be 250 words. Often I had over 500 words and still would get a B even though his response was great work, etc. So even if you do good and go above and beyond, you wont get an A.

Dr. Huey is a great teacher. His classes are straight forward and he will explain and remind of assignments coming due, there are only a few assignments anyway. The class isn't hard, and on the midterm he lets you use notes and the book. I highly recommend his classes.

Huey is a great professor that understands how challenging being a student can be and doesn't make his class any harder than it needs to be. His lectures are interesting and he is entertaining. His exams are open note and open book, so if you go to class and take good notes the exams are not hard.

I took his history class and it was a great class! He is very excited about what he teaches. We were allowed to use our lecture notes and our books on our tests. He has 3 different lecture/book tests and then one novel test. He also does 2 discussions, movie reviews and newspaper reviews. This was a very interesting class and would take again!

Honestly, one of my favorite professors at Ferris. His lectures initially seem a little unorthodox and rambling, but the information all ties in together for the test. He's one of the few professor that I recommend to other students. Great Professor!

The class is lecture heavy and they can get a bit dry. However, attendance isn't mandatory. The professor is very knowledgable in his area and will help you out when needed. The only main assignments are four 50 question essays, two class discussions, and occasional weekly news articles. As long as you put in the work you'll do fine.

Probably one of the most genuine professors at the university. His exams are difficult and lectures can get stale; however, he is an old-fashioned teacher. That's a good thing. He lets you skip class basically as much as you want, just be careful with it because his exams are based 50% off of material exclusive to lectures.

Hands down the best professor on campus. He knows what he's talking about all the test are open book and curved. He is very lenient and understanding when it comes to homework and always has opportunities for extra credit. Just make sure you read the book before the tests.

Also HIST230. The best professor in the History department/one of the best on campus. He tells you it is up to you if you want to show up, but half of his test questions are from lecture. He is easy to work w/ if you have to reschedule a test. Lectures are interesting. He's super down to earth and funny. Tests are open book/notes and curved.

I would definitely recommend Dr. Huey & would take him again! He is so kind & friendly & knows so much about what he's teaching. He gives a good amount of homework, but it's not hard. He also gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit. Tests/exams are open book & open note, but are more on the difficult side.

I loved Professor Huey's class! At first I thought it would be difficult to keep up with since he doesn't use PowerPoint slides or do anything online, but I just recorded the lectures on my phone and did just fine. He is very kind and approachable and really cares about his students. You'll have lots of chances for extra credit, too!

Dr. Huey is my favorite professor. He knows what he is talking about and elaborates everything - he's kind and cares about his students. I got sick for two weeks and he emailed me his lecture notes for those two weeks and he helped me study for a missed exam.
