Its a no for me. It was my minor until he basically told me I wasnt hard working enough to accomplish it. I needed a little encouragement but was met with hostility.

Yves is a great guy, and genuinely loves clay. He loves seeing mistakes and how you fix them. Im considering having a ceramics minor because of this class! I dont understand the low reviews because he's a great professor and will help if you reach out. You'll spend a lot of time in the studio because thats how it is working with clay.

Although there was no textbook use, there were short snippets to read which really help understand the project and terms used in the class. Prof. Yves is really good at giving feedback and cares earnestly about helping you with your 3D design projects. Such a solid choice!

I took this class online over the summer with two other studios. He expects you to put all of your time into your projects. He gave me a 0 on one of my projects because my partner didnt show up even though I submitted my work. Hes really rude and rarely says anything nice about anyones work. His expectations are way too high for a 100 lvl class

LOVED this class. I have no ceramics background and Yves keeps it fun and is a great instructor when you need correction. It requires a lot of hours outside of class just by the nature of the work, but after midterms the workload is lighter and way more fun. Yves is absolutely hilarious and really cares about you, just have fun. Take this class.

Took this class over a year ago, but I still remember working long hours after class on the pottery wheel and making insane sculptures. This professor knows a lot about techniques and offers very good feedback. Just be prepared to work hours after class. :)

Claims to be laid back about skipping but really hates it and complains you missed very important things. So DO NOT skip his class if you want to pass. Id work late at night so he was never there. Bc of this he thought I didn't put in any effort and took points off my grade for this.

Yves is the entire reason my minor is now ceramics. He is the most weirdly funny, corky guy I have ever met. He hates phones, will act like something thats not a big deal, is a big deal but its only to make you work harder so that he can give you a good grade. Love every class Ive taken with him, and cant wait for more.

Yves is an amazing teacher! I learned more in his class than I did in the 18 years before it. Expect to spend a lot of time in the studio outside of class. Hell push you a lot but youll have a great body of work at the end of it

Yves is a really great person and cares about his students. His demo's get extremely repetitive and he spends more than half of the class demo-ing so don't expect to get your projects done during class time. He's extremely strict about phones and don't be late. He's not a tough grader even though he tries to trick you into thinking he is.

Yves is one of the best professors I've had at SCAD and ceramics isn't even my field of study. He will push you because he genuinely cares about his students and wants you to create work that is aesthetically pleasing and intellectual. He is lighthearted, too, and will make the class fun even on days when you feel stressed and are covered in clay.

Yo the class was hard, at least as far as time management but Yeves really rocks. He is more laid back than you expect(but don't be late) , a very accomplished ceramic artist and no joke his main concern is that you will find something you enjoy about ceramics. If fine arts interest you at all I recommend checking out one of his ceramic classes.

I took intro as one of my free electives and it was AMAZING. Fun class, but a lot of work is required out of the studio. Yves is very kind and helpful (a little awkward) but he really knows what he's doing- if you're interested in ceramics, take him!

This class is easy if you do your work. It is a lot of fun and allows you to experiment with clay in many different ways. You have very open freedom when it comes to this class. His demos can sometimes be wordy, but helpful. You learn many things such as coiling, wheel throwing, hard slab construction, and belt coil. He is also a great potter.

If you enjoy working with clay for hours on end, than this class will be enjoyable. If you are looking to just fill your elective requirement, choose another class. You do spend a lot of time outside of class working on your assignments.

I really loved this class! My recommendation is to take it with a couple of easier classes because it really was more work than I expected! Paquette was a great teacher very fun and knew what he was doing... he was great to joke around with too. I agree with the previous post he reminded me very much of Jim Breur in half baked! Highly recommend this class and teacher!
