Comment:
He preaches during his lectures that you can ask him questions in class or in emails but gets visibly frustrated when students ask questions during the lectures and rarely answers emails when you submit a question. When he does reply, instead of breaking it down and explaining, he just refers you to the powerpoint presentation. Very heavy accent

Interesting subject, but his course materials and instruction style are awful. Distributes lackluster slides and sloppily supplements with writing during lecture w/ ELMO :(. Homework assignments are long and in depth. Final exam contains content that was not exercised in the homework. Nice guy, but needs improvement.

Zhu seems to think that his schooling in China was much harder than the U.S. That American students are dumb and have it too easy, and it is his job to right this wrong by making us suffer with tedious assignments on topics that he doesn't even explain. He makes the class 10x harder than it needs to be. Harshest grader ever.

Dr. Zhu is very nice and lenient when you ask him for help for undergrad classes. For grad classes, he is strict. Logic design with Dr. Zhu was good, his quizzes are tricky. His lectures are good too you just have to pay attention. He does have an accent but it's not too bad that you can't understand.

Seriously big mistake taking Zhu. I just assumed the material was really tough and he was doing his best.. until I spoke to the tutors and learned how another prof teaches the same stuff. His class is a joke. Awful professor. Very hard to understand. Told us its not his job to teach us the material. Cumulative final from hell.

Excellent professor but you have to put out some effort to receive a good grade. The class is difficult. Once you try you should be able to pass

The class started out simple enough and was actually pretty fun. However when the class was about one month from finishing that is when it got crazy. We were assigned a final project with a ridiculous amount of requirements and then a huge final exam on top of that. I would not take this professor.

Like others mentioned his English isn't good. I never wanted to watch his video lectures because he was hard to understand. First few assignments were easy. The midterm and final were really lengthy. Exams are supposed to be about 2 hrs tops. They both took me around 4-5 hours. He would ask harder Javascript problems on the exam than the homework.

I took this class online. The professors English is pretty bad which makes it really hard to learn. His tests and hw are worded like he speaks, and are difficult and very time consuming. You might take more than 4 hours to complete a test. On top of all that, his explanations aren't thorough. For this class, self teaching is a must. Risky Prof!

Was good at the beginning of the course, but as the year went on, he stopped explaining things in depth. Exams are ridiculous (Easily over 4 hours if you're not good at coding). Was looking forward to this class at the beginning , but with the extremely difficult exams and lack of explanation I was disappointed.

Terrible professor. His English is not very good, which makes assignments ridiculously difficult, since its difficult to figure out what he's trying to ask you to do. Assignments are graded harshly, and given his confusing instructions, they're especially tight. I'm halfway through the course. Everything I've learned, I've gotten from the textbook. I actually used to like web programming. Not anymore! One of the worst professors I've ever had.

He definitely knows his stuff, but the quizzes are difficult (I'm not sure if it was the class or the professor himself). It was his first time teaching the class so it was a little rough sometimes, but I like him as a professor.

Does'nt explain concepts to the fullest and expects way more out of the student than he teaches. Midterm and final were WAY TO LONG! The class average was a 50 and the higest grade was a 85. Overall you wont learn much but will probably do ok if you submit all the homework which he grades pretty harshly.
