Comment:

This class required a lot of work, but the pandemic changed the way classes were. He made a great effort to make the lectures interesting and funny. Like people have mentioned, it is difficult to study for the exams, as it is applying the concepts that he teaches, not memorizing and restating facts. Overall, good for learning, bad for testing.

We're completely online now due to the pandemic, and all he sees is an opportunity to teach longer. Instead of lecturing for an hour, he now uploads about 2-3 hours worth of videos of him talking. It's a 1000 level class Kirk, relax a little bit.

Expects every single student to be as fully invested into Astronomy as him. Lectured after his 50 minute exam, and always goes over class time. The lectures are full of information with seemingly no way to practice material before exams and check your understanding of the material. This is an ENTRY 1000 LEVEL GEN ED. His exams are a nightmare.

This professor treats his intro level gen-ed astronomy course (1000 level intended for freshman) like every single student is a physics major. Every single lecture is overly long and convoluted, the exams don't line up with lecture material, no chances to practice problems before exams, no study guides. Expects far too much for an entry gen ed.

Dude could not care less about you as a student. Just talks while showing you slides full of formatting errors, and does not care if you pass or not. Won't provide a study guide for tests because "that's our job" apparently, and will give you 50 minutes on the test because he'll spend the class time after that lecturing. Screw this guy.

Not a helpful professor, not a good teacher. Was supposed to be an intro class, and a gen ed, but ended up being the hardest class I have taken in college. Everyone did horrible on the tests and he would not curve. Not understanding of the students abilities.

Amazing man! Expects a lot from his students but gives you the knowledge to achieve what he believes you can! Very passionate about his work! Definitely not a blow off class and does not appreciate people who don't take it seriously! One of my favorite professors and one of my favorite subjects!

His lisp annoyed me from the first day, it just got worse from there. You can go to class and study your notes, but his tests are extremely hard and not from his notes or the book. Oh and make sure you turn your cell off, he kinda freaks out everytime he hears one

The other reviews don't lie. Lecture and text are two different things. Exams are a third. Definitely not a blow off class. Definitely not a good teacher. He likes to dwell. And don't ask him questions; he'll shoot you down. Somehow, he thinks what you don't understand isn't his problem. And that you're trying to shoot him down by asking. Bad guy.
