She really wants her students to learn the language. There is a lot of reading and answering questions, but if you do that, you will be fine. Although she says they are quizzes, they are really exams. Utilize what she gives you for the exams. Great prof who cares about her students and who really knows the subject she teaches.

Dr. Pozzi knows what she's talking about and is passionate about what she teaches but she is not always the most clear. She is a very hard grader and wants the paper written her way. She gives good feed back and will help over email or in her office hours but I did not enjoy the class. The amount of reading expected was very heavy!!

Lectures are EXTREMELY boring. Grades participation. I have more HW, reading and essays due in this class then any of my other 5 combined and its ridiculous. Really tough grader on essays and discussion forums. 2 5-7 pg essays, 1 8-10 pg essay, & 8 forum discussions which you will have to write a lot for if you want an A on them.

It's obvious to me that a lot of the students who rated this professor were lazy. She is an amazing instructor. She has helped me in my writing with very specific feedback. She has a great sense of humor and is very kind in class.

Dr. Pozzi is a very tough grader and is not very helpful. The class is extremely long and boring. Attendance and extensive participation are required to pass the class. Dr. Pozzi knows her material very well and expects her students to have an understanding similar to hers.

Pozzi is everything that is wrong with GVSU's Spanish department. They need to get rid of the weak professors who have no clue how to teach like Pozzi and Fidalgo and employ strong teachers like Serrata. She is very egotistical and does not support you if you are trying to succeed. In addition, she is a sexist and should not be teaching a capstone.

Comment:
Professor Pozzi is a very example of an educator. She is nervous speaking in front of a class. She is very biased and feels threatened if her ideas/beliefs are questioned. She does not reward those who take interest in the language/her class. As a current educator, I can affirm she represents everything a teacher should not be. Not recommended.

Gabriella Pozzi is one of the sweetest professors I've ever had. She has good intentions and wants all of her students to succeed. She is a very tough grader when it comes to essays. Your rough drafts are weighted more than your final drafts so it can be detrimental to your grade if you have an erroneous first draft. I would take her class again.

Nice lady, strange teaching style. She knows the information, but when she communicates it, it's unclear. She uses a lot of vocab that I didn't know, and mumbled, which normally wouldn't be a problem, but in a foreign language class makes it impossible to decipher. Her biggest problem is not engaging students. It was so awkward in her classroom....

I'm a Spanish major and this class almost made me rethink that. Sure, analyzing literature in another language is not easy, but professor Pozzi does nothing but make it harder for students. A TON of reading, and she is a tough grader. I'm a great writer in Spanish and English, but I got C's on my papers... She's impossible and not well organized.

As a professor, she was the hardest grader I have ever had. I would highly recommend staying away from this course if possible, based on the difficulty of her grading alone.

I am not going to lie this class it tough if you are looking for an easy A. However, effort and work does pay out in the end. She is a tough grader on the grammar portion of the class but it very understanding with the oral parts. Overall was a fun relaxed, and laid back class.

Professor Pozzi is a weak teacher and does not understand her study body. Her teaching is not student based, and she makes no efforts to help her students succeed. Refrain from taking her at GVSU, if possible.

Dr. Pozzi is an interesting prof. She is very knowledgeable, but can be unclear. The papers are difficult, make sure you start them early and ask her for feedback. Only recommended if you have moderate/high interest in the literature and art aspect of European Civilization.

Prof. Pozzi is not a good instructor. She is quite uninteresting to listen to and does not show interest in what she teaches. She does not value the students hard work. Her grading is very subjective. She will give you whatever she wants--no questions asked. Poor quality.

I really started out well in this class. I felt like I contributed a lot, but did not get a few assignments in on time. She refused to give me the final exam because of that a few attendance discrepancies. HORRIBLE teacher because she is very unclear- always had to ask classmates what that last random comment was that she threw out there.

Professor Pozzi does not explain herself well and is not an engaging professor. She is not good a communicating or grading assignments on time. I had no clue what I was going to get in the course throughout the entire semester. She does not typify the better GVSU teachers. Unfortunately, the department has some really good and bad professors.

She is an awful prof. She knows her stuff but she grades very tough even though she doesnt tell you what she wants. Her study guide is super long and then her test end up being super short so you do so much work and studying for nothing. Lots of homework and reading, very hard to keep up with. Avoid taking her at all cost.

Comment:
I have Prof. Pozzi for my capstone. It is true that is she a tough grader, and it is hard to get a 4.0 in the class. However, if you do the homework and what she asks you should have no difficulty getting a 3.5 in her class. So far, the homework assignments have been very reasonable, and she is helpful outside of the classroom. Just don´t be lazy.
