Comment:
Professor Luo has very broad knowledge about GIS and he's willing to take the course where the students are interested in taking it. If you show up to class for 359 you'll do great (he does a lot of in-class multiple choice micro-quizzes that are no-brainers) The accent's not hard to understand at all. Helpful and friendly.

Lectures are boring. Doesnt explain stuff well. Had no clue what to do on final project and did horrible on it because he gave no guidance. Mid term is hard.

Comment:
Poor English speaker to the extent that it impedes comprehension of lectures; it is very broken and monotonous, so it will bore you to a stupour. Delivers poorly organized lectures. Makes it challenging to prepare for mid-term exam because vague about content. Seems relatively unknowledgeable about course content. Worst so far at NIU. Rate: D-.

Overall not a good professor. His English isn't that great and I feel as if the language barrier has cost me numerous points. His TA seemed more adept at the subject than Wei does. Also another warning, YOU WILL FALL ASLEEP!

Comment:
Wei Luo is "way low" at teaching. His English is fair, but he is not fluent as every other word out of his mouth is "uh." Overall, his presentation skills need much work. His knowledge of remote sensing seems only barely adequate, so he does not answer questions very satisfactorily. His midterm is difficult to study for and contains trivial items.

Comment:
The class is boring. Wei Luo isn't a bad teacher, but it's not an easy class to sit through. He's not that hard to understand, he just has an accent. I'm not sure if he curves the tests yet, but the average so far is only about a 70. I was misinformed when I signed up for this class, I thought it was going to be about places, not landforms.

You cannot understand him at all. He also grades unfairly with no rhyme or reason for choosing the grades he does. I was a journalism major and he gave me a B- on a simple five page paper for his class. And he only marked me off for one sentence. He makes no sense. If you can, take this class with another teacher.

He is very hard to understand. The subject is boring. He takes attendance which helps your grade. you can miss 3 days. Daily quizzes which help your grade. 3 exams and an optional final. He was very to me I was close to a D, but I got a C. Science isnt my subject. So if you are like me take someone who you can understand. Lab was easy, take it G102

Boring subject, but he tries really hard to keep the class interested. He took a bunch of "joke breaks" and told us silly little knock-knock jokes every once in a while. Not hard, if you don't go to class and take notes you should read the book, otherwise don't bother even buying it. Tests pretty easy.

I don't know what all the fuss is about, but I could understand this guy just fine. Don't blame the guy for geog. being a boring subject, that's not his fault. Extremely nice, understanding and helpful. Easy to get an A as long as you don't skip classes. Recommended!

Extremely dull. I had a hard time staying awake in class. Sometimes, it seemed he wasn't very prepared, and he uses "uh" and "um" a lot.

He is a good teacher. I had some special circumstances come up this year and he has been very accomodating. There are weekly warm up exercises that help your grade and are very easy, just look in the textbook. His tests aren't bad if you pay attention and read the book. He always has study quizzes and study guides to help you out

Bi-weekly warm-ups are easy grade boosters. Offered extra credit worth two letter grades on an exam. An "A" is easily attainable if you attend class and utilize both the practice quizzes posted on Blackboard and the study guide (and you won't have to touch the textbook).

Doesn't speak English very well. If you are really interested in geography/geology, don't get Luo--you will never learn the correct terms because he will say "this is a.. uh... a... well it looks like this!" But the class is really easy and he gives lots of extra credit.

If you go to class, you'll get an A. Everything on the test is covered in class. He can be boring and sometimes hard to understand, but he is more then willing to help you out if you need the help. If you want an easy class, take geo 101 with him.

He is a very nice professor, who will help you out if you have any questions. He is more than willing to help you during his office hours if you have questions. If you go to class, his tests are a breeze. Even if you don't, you can still pass the class with a B or A. Lectures are a little boring
