The tests are a bit difficult if you don't take good notes in class, and if you don't take detailed notes from the chapters that assigned for the day. There are only three tests, and they increase in over the semester 80/90/100. He will also give more than enough points in quizzes, which can get more than the 30 points needed.

Dr Law's class was central to my experience at UCO. He gave me an excellent foundation. His 2113 class proved to be the highlight of my college adventure. You will find his lectures incredibly inspiring, and he's been pretty much everywhere he teaches about. His tests are appropriately challenging, but easy if you take notes in class. RECOMMENDED!

Stephen Law is by far one of the hardest professors Ive had. However, the difficulty of his classes has made me a better student. I actually feel like I am learning when I take his classes. Its not a simple read, memorize, and regurgitate information type of class. You have to actually understand the information and concepts.

Doctor Law is an amazing Professor if you are willing to put the work in. His classes are extremely interesting but require large amounts of reading. I highly recommend taking his courses.

Best class I ever took. This teacher changed my life. If you want to know were you came from, this is the class to take. Read and study and it'll be easy to pass the tests. But the lectures were by far the best I had in my 4 years at UCO

I learned a lot in this class. The prof knows his stuff and really makes you think. 3 tests, with plenty of extra credit quizzes, and 3 take-home essays. I found this class relatively easy, but I did read the assignments and studied for the exams. Probably the best class I've taken at UCO so far. Recommended.

To be honest I don't recommend taking any of his classes unless you are a Humanities/Philosophy/ Liberal Arts Major. He is a very rigorous teacher and his classes are no joke. I recommend recording the lectures and studying for the exam the minute you get the study guide. He's a great professor but will definitely make you work for it.

I took this class on the recommendation of a friend, and I wasn't disappointed. Prof Law is one of the best. The lectures really make you think. His tests are not hard if you study, and he lets you know the terminology well in advance. Lots and lots of extra credit, and take-home essays. Take notes and read the book and you'll make an A.

This class was the best. If you read the book you'll make so many bonus points that it is hard to fail. Loved the lectures. Thought provoking. Funny guy who makes you think! 3 tests, essays in advance, and very helpful. Recommended. I'm now signed up for his medieval philosophy class, and I'm thinking of taking a minor in philosophy.

I had no idea what philosophy was about, but this class spoke to me. We dealt with major questions and had a full exposure to the history of the subject. Very cool stuff. Readings were engaging. 3 tests (including essays). Quizzes on the readings with lots of extra credit. Never a dull moment and lots to think about. Highly recommended!

I have taken several classes from Dr. Law, but it all began here, in Gen Hum 1. He knows his stuff, and it passionate about cultural history. ou won't be disappointed. Great lectures with informative PowerPoints. 3 tests, lots of opportunities for extra credit, and clear study guides. You read, take notes, and study, and you're there. Fantastic!

This class changed my ideas in so many things. Yeah, you read a lot (this is a philosophy class!), but the lectures are first rate and the historical approach gives you a good introduction to the topic. 3 tests, tuns of extra credit. I made Bs, but got an A. Attendance bonus helped. I used the tutors too. Read the book. Take notes. I loved it!

Personally did not feel like an Intro level Philosophy class to me. His exams are VERY lengthy and take up all the class time. We read the entire book and he lectures the entire time. Gets off topic very frequently so you basically have to teach yourself. For a visual learner I would not recommend taking this class. He is very quirky.

I took the Cultural History of Beer class and it was GREAT. 2/3 culture and 1/3 brewing technologies (beginning, intermediate, advanced). The prof knows a LOT about the subject and has 25 years of experience as a brewer. Very interesting lectures. The class was "easy" because everybody got a chance to rework their take-home exams (written essays).

It seemed to me that he wanted to focus more on his accomplishments than anything else. I just wish he could have made the lectures more fun and interactive (especially for a cultural history of beer class). 2 take home tests (essays, definitions), 2 visits to brewhouses. Easy A if you can survive the 3 hour lectures and bragging.

Recommended for Gen Hum: Ren Mod. Lots of reading, but a ton of extra credit can be earned if you do it. Take lots of notes too, cuz your going to need them to study for the exams. They're tough but fair. The powerpoint lectures are well done. He also covers the entire period from the Renaissance to the present. I worked hard and made an A.

Dr. Law was an amazing professor and I very much enjoyed taking his Ancient Greek Culture class. You can tell he really has a passion for it. He is tough when it comes to papers, but only because he really knows his stuff... so bring your A-game!! I will be honest, I never read but still managed a high B/low A in the class just by taking good notes

This class made my brain hurt. I was never exposed to philosophy before, but Law made me rethink many of my basic assumptions. I don't think my world will ever be the same. Question everything seems to be his MO. And that was just what I needed. Keep up with the book and readings. Take notes. And study the terms on the review guide he gives you.

Best class ever! Doc Law's class is heavy on reading (hey, it's philosophy), but he also offers LOTS AND LOTS of extra credit. Students who didn't do the reading complained a lot, but those who read the book scored big time points. Three tests and pop quizzes on the reading. The class is easy if you read -- and impossible if you don't.
