Good ENGL prof. She gives out a really clear layout of the course and the course has an approachable level of intelligence. Her lectures/seminars were also super helpful and you can make excellent notes. She has great taste in course material too! Although lectures were little dry and she has a pretty high level of expectation in her marking.

very insistent on the importance of english, how to apply it to jobs in the real world and repeatedly stated she has/is willing to help w resume and job hunting after uni. as a lecturer, good be better but she does care about what she teaches. definitely an upper year teacher.

dropped course in oct. after realizing how difficult it was. class had 40 spots and she had 10 students in it last i heard. tons of very dry reading that she does not fully explain, very bland. working w other students is fun but thats about it. her own ideas are most important. overall very difficult, might be different next year but not sure tbh

Dr. Sauer is an energetic lecturer with a passion for the topics she teaches. She's very approachable and always willing to help. She appreciates and rewards the students who put effort into her classes, and she comes into lecture with interesting insights to offer. Her intelligence and dedication shine through during every lecture she gives.

She seems to care deeply about some students and not at all about others. She even refuses to give vital assignment information that should be accessible on a syllabus. It was a very isolating experience.

Rude, arrogant, pretentious, and immature. Unorganized class. Very boring. Didn't know how to keep students interested or make the time period seem relevant or interesting. Not helpful or understanding at all.

All I can say is beware of the exam. Be prepared to write and not finsih it, by the end I had not finsihed. The exam required 7 essays, and 22 pages of writing in 3 hours. It was impossible to finish. Not a single person I talked to finished it.

She is absolutely hilarious, some of the stuff she reads just makes you fall off your chair laughing. She makes boring material interesting. Really nice lady, easy to understand and really good for note taking. Clear speaker, great class.

Dr. Sauer is an amazing professor. Her love of Milton is inspiring. She is always available for help and encourages us to make the world our oyster. I appreciate all she has done for me. Hands down, best English professor at Brock!

Comment:
Sauer was awful. Her personal feminist beliefs decide what is to be studied. Her exam was unfair to first year students (even the time allowance when broken down required 3hr 10mins, in a 3hr exam with a total requirement of 22 pages). Boring and bland in lecture, she reads from her podium. and totally turned me off from studying english at Brock.

I really enjoyed her lectures, she brought humour to an incredibly dry subject matter. I can understand a student being confused if they miss lecture, but if you attend class regularly, then you are nearly guaranteed to succeed. She spurned creative thought, and offered a lot of evidence to support her interpretations of the texts we studied.

Would have gotten a higher rating if she had spent less time talking about anything else but the text, and spent more time lecturing... in lecture. Instead of spending seminars lecturing.

Simply the worst professor I've ever had... I was excited to take her class on The Literature of Milton's Time but she made it a horrible experience by working over useless personal tirades... In assisting the class she was condescending and instead of handling it on an individual basis she wasted class time on it. Do not take her classes!

I must have had a different Sauer than everyone else, such a bore to go to her classes. Found she deviated from what we should have been discussing, didn't count in the fact that none of us have 17th C literature background. Not a horrible marker but I found her classes boring and tedious to attend.

17th C lit, her specialty; totally interesting if you get her on this subject. But, not entirely openminded to amalgamating new ideas with older approaches (ie. omnitemporality). Trigger any memories? Haven't had her as a prof for years, but she was one of my favourites. Really encouraged me to continue onto MA (didn't, but appreciated it).

So, genius; what's a drole?! Your comments are negated by your own stupidity. Sauer is a little rough around the edges, be she knows how to be a prof - especially in seminar!

Not a good introductory course prof. Goes into great detail about things unimportant. Easy to lose interest. Easy to fall asleep. Don't really understand what exam is going to be on, kind of afraid since her lectures are dull droles of little useful information.

Very unorthodox, and, at the same time, very interesting. Take her class, definitely.
